REVIEW: Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Day Cream and Pro-Collagen Oxygenating Night Cream

Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream and Pro-Collagen Oxygenating Night Cream @iamcherrylemon

Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream and Pro-Collagen Oxygenating Night Cream @iamcherrylemon

Hello there! Happy Sunday!
Today I’m reviewing couple of skincare products by Elemis. These two products have won have many awards, and are bestselling products by the brand.
Elemis is an award winning British brand skincare specialist, used in professional spas and beauty salons, as well as British Airways Travel Spa at Heathrow Terminal 5. BA includes Elemis products in their infight grooming kits, I grabbed a few bags last time 😛
I’ve started using Elemis skincare when I needed to revamp my skincare routine, in preparation to my wedding little more than 2 years ago. Since then,  Elemis has been a staple in my day and night skincare routines. I’ve tried their facial creams,  shower gels, toner, cleansing balm and hand creams etc.

Onward to the review!

Pro-Collagen Marine Day Cream
Packaging
There are smaller sizes of this cream at 30ml, 50ml as well as the 100ml tubs.
There at two versions of the 100ml value tubs. I’ve bought the normal version, where the tub is frosted white plastic. They other one is the silver edition, it comes with a special edition silver pocket mirror. (I wouldn’t recommend getting the mega 100ml tub unless you’re sharing it with someone). It took me forever to finish this by myself!

Product and Formulation
This cream has been scientifically proven to help with reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines with regular usage. It uses a combination of marine algae padins pavonics, rose and mimosa absolutes and ginkgo bilobs and liposomes. It will increase hydration and moisture to the skin.

Texture and Fragrance
This day cream is like yogurt, very light, soft and creamy. It’s almost as light as lotion! Very easy to apply and easily absorbed into the skin. It does have a light fragrance to it, which some users might not too keen on.

Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream @iamcherrylemon

Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream @iamcherrylemon

Effectiveness
For me, I really do like and enjoying using this cream. This is suitable for my oily combination skin and it does not feel heavy nor greasy. It hydrates my skin and it helps to make it look radiant and healthy. Although I do divert and try other day creams, but if anything does fail I know I can always come back to this!

Price : £135 for 100ml (if you look out for offers, you can pick this up for approx £80)

Pro-Collagen Oxygenating Night Cream

Packaging
Elemis packaging is very uniform, basic, not made of glass but still luxurious looking. Fit for your vanity or bathroom shelves!

Product and Formulation
This night cream aims to help with improving skin suppleness, firmness and elasticity. It contains marine derived ingredients and gingko biloba which aims to protect your skin from free radicals.

Texture and Fragrance
The cream itself is like meringue, freshly whipped egg whites… If you bake you’ll know what I mean 😛 if you don’t bake, this cream is creamy and light. Not your standard night creams which are often heavier and oiler. It sinks into the skin with ease!
This is a fragranced product, although the scent is not strong it might still affect some users. For me, it smells lightly floral; I do like the scent and is very relaxing and calming.

Elemis Pro-Collagen Oxygenating Night Cream @iamcherrylemon

Elemis Pro-Collagen Oxygenating Night Cream @iamcherrylemon

Effectiveness
This cream has been advertised for matured skin and anyone who’s concern about ageing effects on the skin.
This is one of the better performing night cream for me. I’ve been using this night cream with the marine day cream. I notice the difference it made to my skin after few day’s usage. This was probably I wasn’t really looking after my skin too well at the time (almost 2 years back!)! But I do welcome the fresh radiant look, and my complexion looked and felt more firm.

Review: WondeRuci Cacao Brightening Mask #KBeauty

WondeRuci Cacao Brightening Mask @iamcherrylemon

WondeRuci Cacao Brightening Mask @iamcherrylemon

Hi there! Hope you’re having a great week so far. I’m back with a review post on a pot of Korean face mask.
This is no ordinary mask… this mask smells, looks and feels like chocolate!! Oh yummy! I have tried couple of chocolate masks from the drugstores and I did enjoy them 🙂 full review here.

What is this?
WondeRuci Cacao Brightening Mask is one of those well known Korean facial masks. Possibly made famous for being part of an extremely popular Memeboxes. I didn’t get mine via Memebox but I did learn about it being a well loved product by many KBeauty enthusiasts.

Packaging: This jar of chocolate mask comes in a sophisticated frosted glass jar with a silver twist top lid. Very grown up, so you can imagine who are the targeted buyers for this!! The pink outer box has English instruction printed on it.

WondeRuci Cacao Brightening Mask @iamcherrylemon

WondeRuci Cacao Brightening Mask @iamcherrylemon

Product: This mask looks just like chocolate; it has the consistency of a jar of Nutella! This is probably slightly thicker and gluey, but smells more like chocolate than Nutella! It is very thick but not too hard to spread onto the face.

Formulation: We all know chocolate is great for our skin, it contains antioxidants, vitamin C and omega 6 fatty acids. This mask claims to moisturise, declogs pores and brighten your complexion.
The mask is not easy to rinse off, I did have to use the loofah pad to remove it, followed by a gentle facial gel cleanser to remove all traces of it.
Very sticky!

WondeRuci Cacao Brightening Mask @iamcherrylemon

WondeRuci Cacao Brightening Mask @iamcherrylemon

WondeRuci Cacao Brightening Mask @iamcherrylemon

WondeRuci Cacao Brightening Mask @iamcherrylemon

Scent/fragrance: Smells deliciously like real chocolate, there is no doubt about that and it lasts while it’s in your face too. Please try not to lick it. I haven’t tried but I can’t imagine it tasting like chocolate too.

Effectiveness: This mask only gets a Ok from me. Deal breaker… It is a brightening mask but I didn’t find it too effective. My skin had a slight reaction after use (red patches) which I’m very surprised about. I do not have sensitive skin and it doesn’t react to normal skincare products.

Price: 100ml for $30 USD from TesterKorea
Also available on amazon.com and other major KBeauty online specialist sites

How to use:
1. Using a spatula to scoop out the rich and creamy mask
2. Apply directly onto your cleansed face,  avoiding the eye area
3. Relax and let the mask work on your skin for 15 to 20 minutes
4. Rinse cleanly with warm water and follow by your normal skincare routine

WondeRuci Cacao Brightening Mask @iamcherrylemon

WondeRuci Cacao Brightening Mask @iamcherrylemon

Overall Summary:
Not a product that I would recommend to everyone.
This is a disappointing product for me, as I had high hopes for it being a great mask. It probably does not suit my oily combination skin. Back to my English drugstore hot chocolate masks!

Thanks for reading and have a great day 😀

Review: Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm “Spa in a Jar”

Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm @iamcherrylemon

Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm @iamcherrylemon

Good morning everyone 😀 Have you had a nice weekend?

Today, I will be sharing my views on one of the most raved about cleansing balms by Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm.

The packaging

The gold toned plastic tub looks great, if it was glass it would be even prettier but I guess it will be reflected in the price. (It’s the contents that counts!) The plastic tub is probably one of the most “complained about” part of the product.

Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm (cracked lid) @iamcherrylemon

Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm (cracked lid) @iamcherrylemon

I mail-ordered mine from Space NK and it was a tad too oily on the tub when it arrived. I took it back to the store and asked for advice. The lady said it is very likely to have leaked a bit and assured me there won’t be any contamination. Later I’ve found that the lid was actually cracked slightly. So to me, this is a bit of a let-down. This is a common issue with the lid with other users.

The product

Upon opening the tub, the balm looks like set honey, in terms of colour and consistency. It contains a blend of essential oils; you will be able to pick up the lovely scent of orange, neroli, mandarin, jasmine and rose. It smells very natural and fresh. The product has been dermatologically tested, free from parabens and alcohol and it has a shelf life of 6 months. I am guessing this is essential oils that it contains, will have to be fresh to be effective.

Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm (Balm) @iamcherrylemon

Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm (Balm) @iamcherrylemon

This cleansing balm kit comes with a micro-fibre dual action polish and buff cleansing cloth, (I cannot believe I am going to say this but I love it) this posh flannel is so soft, effective and has luxurious feel to it. It goes so well with the cleansing balm. I have not photographed it as it is less than brilliant white at the moment.

This product is suitable for all skin types, including oily and blemished can help to re-balance the skin.

To use, mix a few drops of warm water to a small amount of the cleansing balm in your palms. This will turn the cleansing balm into cream. Apply and massage this cream onto the skin, this will eliminate all grime and makeup including waterproof ones. I also used this on my eye lids, I did not feel any stinging or irritation. It feels very gentle yet effective.

My take on the product

I can still remember the first time I used this product; I was overwhelmed by just how relaxing it smelled. The warm flannel and the scent hits you like a pillow of relaxation and bliss. It was like having a luxurious facial at an expensive spa!

In the swatch below, I am using the cleansing balm over one of my hardest to remove eyeliner “They’re Real Push up Liner”. It took couple of swipes to remove 99% of the liner.

Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm (Swatch - Melting They're Real Eyeliner mark) @iamcherrylemon

Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm (Swatch – Melting They’re Real Eyeliner mark) @iamcherrylemon

I do prefer to use cleansing balm over cleansing oils, as it is easier to control and it is less likely that I will get anything into my eyes. Don’t be afraid of the texture, go and check this product out in a store near you.

My skin always feel brighter, refreshed, hydrated and nourished. Despite all these benefits, I only use this few times a week.

Pros

  • Amazing scent
  • Cleans effectively
  • Little product goes a long way
  • Skin benefits of Moringa seed extracts (skin clearing and brightening; contains antioxidant properties)
  • For dry skin types the Moringa cleansing balm can also double up as an overnight hydrating mask

Cons

  • On the expensive side!
  • Lid might cracks and leaks

Packaging: 2/5

Price: £36 for 100ml, 2/5

Effectiveness: 5/5

Overall Summary: This is hands-down one of the best all-round cleanser I’ve ever tried. It is a joy to use, smells divine and cleans brilliantly. But all these come with a hefty price tag. I will repurchase as a splurge / treat.

BONUS: Two amazing deals from Marks and Spencer at the moment (ends today!), there’s a 20% off Moringa Cleansing Balms.

Both are £28.80 instead of £36. Hint: the travel set is much better value 😉

Thank you for reading! Have a wonderful week ahead!!

Etude House I need You Alphabet mask in “Yogurt Strawberry” and My Beauty Diary Yogurt Strawberry Masks – Product Review

Etude House and My Beauty Diary Strawberry Yogurt Sheet Masks @iamcherrylemon

Etude House and My Beauty Diary Strawberry Yogurt Sheet Masks @iamcherrylemon

Hi there, we have 2 strawberry yogurt sheet masks for review and comparison today!

Apart from sharing the same product name, these two masks are miles apart! To find out more, please read on 🙂

First up, we have My Beauty Diary Yogurt Strawberry Masks. This mask contains strawberry essence which has enzymes and minerals, this will help with moisturising the skin. The yougurt essence contains lactic acid, which helps with balancing the skin with moisture and oil. This will improve the texture of the skin as well as the overall fresher appearance. This mask has been marketed as a great mask for acne prone and troubled skin.

My Beauty Diary Strawberry Yogurt Sheet Mask @iamcherrylemon

My Beauty Diary Strawberry Yogurt Sheet Mask @iamcherrylemon

Apply the mask and relax for 10 to 15 mins, massage any excess serum into the skin and no need to wash off.

Fit: The sheet mask itself was thin, flexible but strong, in the sense that you won’t accidentally rip this. It also has a plastic protective sheet; you will need to remove before applying the mask onto your skin. There are not much shaping/cutting to the mask, but thanks to its thinness, it adheres to the skin closely and giving a very good fit on the face.

Scent: This mask smells amazing! Not overly powerful strawberry yogurt-like scent, it is very pleasant and it lasts about 5 mins before fading.

Effectiveness: This is moisturising to the skin

Overall Summary: The essence is light and moisturising. This is a good mask for daily use, cheap and it smells great. It gives decent results but not too long-lasting.

Etude House I need You Alphabet mask in “Yogurt Strawberry”

Etude House Strawberry Yogurt Sheet Mask @iamcherrylemon

Etude House Strawberry Yogurt Sheet Mask @iamcherrylemon

This mask contains strawberry and yogurt essence, and promises to help with achieving more hydrating and softer skin.

This mask contains huge amount of essence in the packet. This is recommended for people with dryer skin.

Fit: This mask is slightly thicker than the MBD version. The cutting is a bit weird and off for my face shape. It always have a corner or two that’s not sticking well.

Scent: I was disappointed as I expect this to smell just as nice as the MBD version. This mask is scentless, not that I can detect any fragrance.

Effectiveness: Amazing. I left my mask on for 25 to 30 mins (normally 10 to 15mins), the mask was slightly dehydrated when I removed it. But the mask left my skin feeling and looking extra youthful. It looked nice and plump, skin tone was good and even.

Overall Summary: The essence feels more nourishing when compared to the MBD version. Great mask for combination skin, it balances the skin moisturise level. I would definitely repurchase this mask!

My Beauty Diary Etude House
Aims Brighten, moisture, help with appearance of fine lines Softer and hydrated skin, great for people with dryer skin
Fit Really good fit to the face Not adhering to the face 100%
Scent Smells wonderful, just like strawberry yogurt No scent detected
Effectiveness Good for daily use but will require continued daily use Noticeable improvement in skin moisture level, skin appears more plump and youthful for a day or two
Price Approx £10 for 10 masks Amazon and $14.60 from Beauteque.com £1.20 for 1 from eBay UK and $1.99 for 1 from Beauteque.com
Summary Moisturising, great for daily use Nourishing; moisturising and longer lasting results

Sarah Chapman Pro Expert Home Facial Collection (Overnight Facial, Intense Hydrating Booster Serum, 3D Moisture Infusion, Ultimate Cleanse and Facialift massage tool) – product review

Sarah Chapman Pro Expert Home Facial Collection @iamcherrylemon

Sarah Chapman Pro Expert Home Facial Collection @iamcherrylemon

Morning and Happy Saturday! Hope you are well and healthy.

Today, I am reviewing one of my favourite new finds in the last 12 months. I am 100% skincare junkie, and have been/will be jumping onto any sort of skincare bandwagons! Sarah Chapman was one of the brands that’s originated from London, UK.

Sarah, the founder of the company, is a super-facialist to the rich and famous. Her skincare range is formulated with a blend of potent active skincare ingredients and natural essential oils. Her Skinesis Clinic is based in South Kensington. I do not think I will EVER book an appointment, £170 for a 60 minutes facial… maybe when I have won the lottery! For now, home facials will be fine for me 🙂

This is the Pro Expert Home Facial Collection containing the famous Overnight Facial, Intense Hydrating Booster Serum, 3D Moisture Infusion, Ultimate Cleanse with cleansing mitts and Facialift massage tool. This set provides the tools you need for a facial at home, leaving your skin bright, refreshed and radiant.

I bought this as a set from QVC and the set was under £72 but it is no longer available as a set. I will list the individual item price with each product review.

Ultimate Cleanse

Sarah Chapman Ultimate Cleanse @iamcherrylemon

Sarah Chapman Ultimate Cleanse @iamcherrylemon

Ultimate Cleanse is a oil based makeup remover/cleanser balm, it is fragranced with floral essential oils (a blend of camphor, neroli, chamomile, jasmine and rose).

The cleanser contains baobab and borage oils, both are known for its effective moisture retention properties. The blend of vitamins will help to boost collagen production.

Sarah Chapman Ultimate Cleanse (Swatch) @iamcherrylemon

Sarah Chapman Ultimate Cleanse (Swatch) @iamcherrylemon

To use, apply small amount of balm cleanser onto face and make circular motions. It helps to lifts off dead skin cells. Add water to emulsify the balm into milk that can be rinsed off easily. This balm cleanser also acts as a gentle exfoliator thanks to its vitamin A, white lily and Dermaxyl peptide components.

Effectiveness: This effectively removes all traces of makeup including waterproof mascara and heavy coverage foundations. For that extra gentle exfoliation, use with the specially designed cleansing gloves. The gloves are super soft and it helps to clean the skin well. It does work well and true to its claim on the brighter and clearer skin that does not feel dry.

Fragrance: I believe the scent is one of its selling point, but for me, this is too strong.. even for a natural floral scent!

Overall Summary: A good cleanser with heavy floral scents, great if you like that “expensive home spa” feeling. It definitely smells like one! I love everything about this cleanser balm apart from its packaging! The cleanser comes in a tube which I do not like, as the oils get squeezed out every single time before the actual cleanser can be extracted.

But you don’t have to worry about it, all new version of this cleanser is now in a pump bottle form!

Price: £40 for 100ml (more expensive than the Emma Hardie Moringa! I should be reviewing it shortly! ).

Score: 4/5

Professional Cleansing Mitts

Sarah Chapman Professional Cleansing Mitts @iamcherrylemon

Sarah Chapman Professional Cleansing Mitts @iamcherrylemon

A pair of dual texture cleansing mitts made with soft cotton fabric enclosing a thin layer of sponge. The sponge makes it even more luxurious, it makes the mitt feel soft and very gentle.

I’m glad I’ve saved one for photos! Hehe very clean!

Overall Summary: Not a necessity, but a very “nice to have” item that will enrich your home spa experience.

Price: £14 a pair, unlikely to repurchase

Score: 3/5

Overnight Facial

Sarah Chapman Overnight Facial @iamcherrylemon

Sarah Chapman Overnight Facial @iamcherrylemon

This is the star of the show! This is a silky serum that helps to plump the skin during the night. It contains a potent blend of antioxidants, anti-inflammatory omega oils, vitamins, firming peptide, jasmine and rose.

This overnight treatment is recommended for dull, tired skin that needs intensive nourishment and pampering care. It aims to temporarily reduce the signs of fine lines, evens out the tone and texture. Leaving the skin firm and healthy looking.

To use, squeeze one pump and gently massage it onto the whole face and neck area.

Sarah Chapman Overnight Facial (Swatch) @iamcherrylemon

Sarah Chapman Overnight Facial (Swatch) @iamcherrylemon

Effectiveness: This works very well for my skin, it contains natural ingredients that are highly effective. It leaves my skin feeling and looking refreshed every single time that I use this. Overall complexion looks brighter and more “awake”! I am addicted to this stuff.

Fragrance: deliciously fragranced with a soothing pure essential oil blend of jasmine, frangipani, rose and tuberose. Frangipani is one of my favourite scents in body and skincare products.

Overall Summary: This is my number 1 “Go-to” when my skin is not looking its best. My Love!

Sarah Chapman Limited Edition Overnight Facial in a Lalique Crystal Bottle (image credit: http://www.sarahchapman.net)

Sarah Chapman Limited Edition Overnight Facial in a Lalique Crystal Bottle (image credit: http://www.sarahchapman.net)

Price: £46 for 15ml or £445 for 15ml with a limited edition LALIQUE Crystal bottle! SPLURGE or what!?

Score: 5/5 from me!

Intense Hydrating Booster

Sarah Chapman Intense Hydrating Booster @iamcherrylemon

Sarah Chapman Intense Hydrating Booster @iamcherrylemon

Official Description: Intense defence and hydrating moisture relief for thirsty skin. (how can you not fall for this? I did :P)

This is a lightweight, smooth serum that is recommended for dehydrated and unbalanced skin. This serum contains Hyaluronic Acid to help the skin maintain moisture level. It has a droplet so you can control how much to dispense. But the droplet button on the lid is not the best, looks good thou.

The serum aims to help plump up any fine lines and boost moisture in your skin. A great instant “pick-me-up” for that dewy radiant healthy glow.

Sarah Chapman Intense Hydrating Booster (Swatch) @iamcherrylemon

Sarah Chapman Intense Hydrating Booster (Swatch) @iamcherrylemon

Effectiveness: This works well as a pre day/night cream treatment to add in the extra layer of moisture.

I love how easy this gets absorbed into the skin. It seems to drunk this stuff upon application. A lovely addition to my skincare routine.

Fragrance: Not an obvious scent

Overall Summary: This yields good but not dramatic result, if I had to choose between taking this serum or the overnight facial… I will take the overnight facial in a heartbeat!

Price: £58 for 30ml

Score: 3/5

3D Moisture Infusion Treatment Mask

Sarah Chapman 3d Moisture infusion @Iamcherrylemon

Sarah Chapman 3d Moisture infusion @Iamcherrylemon

This is a very fancy sheet mask as I’ve never used a sheet mask within this price range!

This mask contains Hyaluronic Acid and rosewater. It helps injecting moisture into the skin and rosewater will have a lovely calming effect on the skin afterwards.

There are 3 layers and the outer 2 are there to protect the actual face mask from being damages. They need to be removed before applying onto your cleansed face. Leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes. Remove mask and gently massage the remaining serum into the skin.

Overall Summary: A very good and indulgent mask for special occasion. It is effective but I am not sure it is worth the price tag. The end result is great but it is not something a Hydrogel mask cannot achieve. So I will stick with my Hydrogel masks for similar results at fraction of the price.

Price: £39 for 4 masks

Score: 2/5 (just because of the price!)

Facialift Massage Tool

Sarah Chapman Facialift Massager @iamcherrylemon

Sarah Chapman Facialift Massager @iamcherrylemon

This is a flexible plastic facial massaging tool. It has eight rolling heads and each with 12 massaging nodes. It aims to help with puffiness in the face area. It has been designed to mimic the tapping, pinching and knuckling of Sarah Chapman’s facial massage.

Sarah Chapman Facialift Massager @iamcherrylemon

Sarah Chapman Facialift Massager @iamcherrylemon

To be very honest, it hurts my face really bad every time I dare enough to use it. It might deliver great results but it is way too uncomfortable for me to continue its use. I have seen $2 replica of this (try Daiso, or Korea/Japanese budget beauty stores), and I have heard good things about them.

Price: £25

Score: 1/5 Good concept but not for me

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed this post 🙂
I really like Sarah Chapman skincare range, the Overnight Facial will definitely be on my repurchase list 🙂

Disclaimer: Not sponsored and I am not being reimbursed for this post. I’ve purchased all the products with my own money.

MaskGenie Special Edition: Oriental Beauty Pouch (Chinese New Year special)

MaskGenie Oriental Beauty Edition (2015 Chinese New Year Special) @iamcherrylemon

MaskGenie Oriental Beauty Edition (2015 Chinese New Year Special) @iamcherrylemon

Hi there, I received this special edition mask pouch on Saturday. I am so excited about this mask selection that I absolutely have to do a UNPOUCHING! I will blog about these masks in the near future :o)

[10 masks, so it might take me at least two to three weeks!]

Let’s get back to the unpouching!

This special edition is called the “Oriental Beauty Pouch”, specially curated in time to celebrate Chinese New Year. All masks selected will contain Asian ingredients fit for use by an ancient oriental beauty queen!

Normally, each normal Mask Genie  mask pouch comes in a blue or red organza drawstring pouch. This special edition has a Chinese New Year themed one! A gorgeous red Sateen drawstring pouch containing nine masks, the tenth mask was too big to fit into the red pouch! Within the pouch, there are also two red shiny candies included. These are New Year “lai-see” candies, we generally eat these by buckets when we were younger! Nice little touch, Eugene!

Tosowoong Rice Paper Pack (Korea) @iamcherrylemn

This is a mask made of real rice, in the form of rice paper which is similar to the rice paper that you use for Vietnamese summer rolls. [Vietnamese summer rolls are yummy by the way! I visited my sister’s inlaws and they made some delicious summer rolls! I love Vietnamese foods!]
Basically the mask comes in two parts, packed neatly in a tray. It also comes with a 23g sachet of essence, in which you saturate the rice paper mask pieces with! It is suggested you can get other essences from Tosowoong, addressing different skin concerns.

It is currently on “buy one get one free” offer at Koreadepart.com for $9.18 USD

If I didn’t read the Chinese label I would have no idea what this is! But the main ingredient of this mask is Snow Lotus. Snow Lotus, a mythical herbal medicine used for reviving people from poisoning and near-death. I didn’t even know it actually exists but I won’t depend my life on it!
Anyhow, this mask also contains peony extracts, aloe vera extracts, organic gingko, pearl powder and white tea extracts.
The actual mask itself is made of natural silk!  Very luxurious!

I’ve tried this mask last night, it has an obvious Aloe Vera scent which is very pleasant. My skin felt refreshed and moisturised.
Unfortunately, I haven’t read the instructions carefully and I didn’t wash off the excess serum after removing the mask. I woke up with white sticky bits on my face!

Dermal Gold Collagen Essence Mask (Korea) and Lebelage Natural Mask Pearl (Korea) @iamcherrylemon

Dermal Gold Collagen Essence Mask (Korea) and Lebelage Natural Mask Pearl (Korea) @iamcherrylemon

This looks like a standard facial mask containing pearl powder. Pearl has been known to be great for the skin. I’ve used and liked pearl masks; I’ve also consumed pearl powder, as it had been known to be beneficial to the skin.

It is important to only consume and use good quality pearl powder. Normally, I would mix the powder with serum or creams :o)

Dermal Gold Collagen Essence Mask RRP $5 for 10 masks

Wow, super value or what? This mask contains nano gold, collagen and vitamin E. There is probably a minute amount of gold in this mask, but the thought of having some in my skincare makes it a special mask indeed! This mask promises to brightens and moisturises the skin. Eugene did mention this is a budget mask, but pretty good for daily use.

My Beauty Diary Imperial Bird’s Nest Mask (Taiwan) @iamcherrylemon

One of the most interesting items within this pouch is the Imperial bird nest mask! It promises to nourish dry skin. “My Beauty Diary” is a well-known Taiwanese beauty brand. It produces some really good products; I have their Black Pearl masks and have been using them for a while now. The mask shapes are good and each comes with a lot of essence.

Amazon $16 for 10 masks with free shipping

The History of Whoo Gongjinhyang Nok-Yong Pack $45 for 135ml

This sleeping mask contains Velvet Deer Antler Extract and Royal Jelly Extract. It is unusual to see Deer Antler in skincare, as it isn’t common for Asian to consume deer antler in medicine in modern days! This is said to be a warming mask, it leaves the skin moisturised and glowing. I have heard good reviews on this but never have tried it! I shall report back if I do enjoy it!

Sulwhasoo Overnight Vitalizing Mask RRP $60 for 120ml

Sulwhasoo is a famous Korean skincare brand, it is known they include Korean Ginseng in most of their line. This sleeping mask is formulated with Korean medicinal herbs, it helps to reveal glowing healthy skin after use.

So, what do you think? I cannot wait to try the rice sheet and the imperial bird nest masks! This is by far, the most exciting selection of masks I have ever received! The good thing regarding these masks is that I can find most of these on either amazon or Ebay!

What is MaskGenie?
MaskGenie is a mask subscription service that you can choose which editions/month mask pouches to purchase. All prices include shipping. Eugene is the mastermind behind MaskGenie, she has a FB page and Instagram account so you can find out more about her services and MaskGenie. Eugene reviews many of the mask pouch contents, and would give a quick overview on each one.

Please note MaskGenie’s subscription is not about giving you more products for the money you pay for, it is about bringing together different range of masks from Asia that we would not normally be able to get our hands on or thought of trying.

There is flexibility in choosing which month’s subscription; so far I have only bought the January (Launch edition) pouch and this special Oriental Beauty edition.

Thank you so much for reading! Have a great week!

Please note this is not a sponsored post, and I paid for all the products with my own money! If you want more information, please read the disclaimer. Thank you!

My 2014 Most Loved beauty products [Skincare Edition]

My 2014 Most Loved Beauty Products [Skincare] @iamcherrylemon

I can say I’ve upgraded my skincare routine! Being a skincare junkie I’ve always been careful and religious about the rituals! But this is crazy, I cannot believe I am writing one single post on skincare favourites!? Anyhow, 2014 has served me well and I think me and my skin has come to terms on how to live happily/calm. Pre-2014 was angry skin years, I get spots and acne, occasionally I get the insanely dry skin that makes any makeup application seems like a complete waste of time.

What I have learned in 2014 is that if I look after my skin it will look after me.

  • I don’t have to pile on more makeup to look nicer
  • Observe my skin and react before it gets too angry! If your skin doesn’t like a product, just STOP using it. Trust your gut feeling.
  • Find what works with your skin might be easier than you think. If your skin is sensitive, just stay away from products with obvious irritants such as perfume, alcohol and parabens etc.
  • What works for one person might not work for you. If you have found an ingredient that your skin love, maybe it is time to explore more about it!

My skincare routine might have become more complicated (thanks for Korean skincare rituals), but I believe it is worth the investment. Especially as I am seeing the first/second/third signs of ageing and it is scaring me big time. I understand that everyone will have to go through this stage sooner or later. For me, I want to delay the ageing process for as long as I can. 😛 I am just vain. THANK YOU 😛

Ok, enough blahing and onto the skincare product shortlist!

Scrubs and Peeling gels

Well I have stopped using scrubs that contains micro beads, as it is very damaging to the environment and not really too kind to the skin either. I do prefer peeling gels, such as Ginvera (link) and Innisfree red wine peeling softener. I also sugar scrubs that dissolve completely into warm water. I do scrubbing/peeling for at least once a week. You see, removing dead skin will aid product absorption!

During my weekly or bi-weekly scrubbing, I would also use nose strips. Many ladies find it harsh on their skin thou! Tread carefully and find the best way to take care of blackheads.

Cleansing balms/oils
New discovery for me! Yes I’m late to the party again but better late than never! I love cleansing balms/oils as they work fast and clean thoroughly!

I’m very impressed with Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa cleansing balm. Typically, I was very curious and bought it after watching so many YouTubers raving about it.

Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm

I can still remember the very first time I’ve used it, it melts all my makeup away and it smelt like I was in an expensive spa and having a lovely facial. But it is very expensive product even with a promotion from Space NK 😛 (Go and have a sniff at it next time you come across it in a shop!)

In 2014, I have finished 2 bottles of Shu Uemura Fresh Pore Clarifying Cleansing Oils. It is the pink one, formulated for spot/acne prone skin types. It can be used before wetting your face or you can use it will wet hands. It feels extremely light and cleans effectively.

Shu Uemura Pore Clarifying Cleansing Oil

For cheaper alternative, I have been using Body Shop Camomile cleansing oil. It cleans just as well as expensive versions but it does feel heavier on the skin. It might not smell too fancy as well but it gets the job done!
Body Shop Silky Camomile Cleansing Oil

Cleansers
I spent a good 3 months of 2014 on Eau Thermale Avène Gentle Gel Cleansers, as it is the gentlest cleanser I have ever come across! Avène uses French spring water in their range.
My absolutely favourite is the “Yes to Tomatoes” Face clarifying cleanser gel. It is just fabulous for my oily skin yet it does not strips out its natural oil. It leaves my skin clean and fresh. Big love!
Eau Thermale Avène Gentle Gel Cleanser
ps. they are both non-foamy cleansers. Review on “Yes to Tomatoes” daily clarifying cleanser can be found here.

Toner
I’m taking a break from my favourite toner, Elemis apricot gentle toner. This year, the most impressed toner for me was the Clarins Iris alcohol free toning lotion. It is gentle on the skin, lightly fragranced and suitable for combination oily skin.
Clarins Iris Toning Lotion
I’ve bought the 400ml and it is lasting me ages!

Serum/Essence
My absolute favourite essence is the Eon Wheat-Germ 97, I got this from one of the earlier memebox I’ve received back in August. It feels light and yet it yields really good results. It brightens and even out my skintone. Love this alot but I’m running out of this already.
I’ve been using two serums this year that really impresses me.
First one is the Sarah Chapman intense hydrating booster. It is a good serum contains hyaluron. To me,  it helps retain moisture and plump up the skin! Yes skin feels like it’s sagging. .. sob sob
DKDN Snail Recover Intensive Serum, probably one of my very favourite serums. It took me awhile tlio get over the fact that it contains snail slime extracts. But it gives me so much that I have no problem slathering this onto my skin now. My skin cells plumper and lines are less visible. I just bought a backup, I’m good for another few months!

Eon Wheat-Germ 97 and DKDN Snail Recover Intensive Serum

Facial oils
Ah.. something I was not convinced on for many years. I have combination oily skin, so when I first found out about facial oils I was adamant it will not work for me. “I don’t need more oil on my face”! But it really is a game changer for me. The best ever oil I have discovered in 2014 was the Kiehl’s Mignight Recovery Concentrate oil. It improved my skin overnight, and I do not think I can live without it! Gimme more!
Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate

Day and night creams
I failed to stick to one or two moisturisers to name a favourite. In place of a night cream, I’ve been using the facial oils.

Eye and Lip Care

I have been very loyal to Burt’s Bee this year, there are one on my desk at work, one in my current handbag and one by my bedside table 🙂 This is the set up for the last 5 years! My lips can be sensitive to some lip balms so I seldom change this routine.

For eye care, I have not had one that has been overly impressed with (yet). I am currently using a EGF one.

Overnight masks

I never knew it was a good idea to use a mask overnight, yes, overnight without rinsing. But I guess “Why Not”? As that’s how night creams work anyway! haha
I’m very impressed with Sarah Chapman overnight facial, this substance feels like set honey from a jar.
It feels very nourishing and wake up with guaranteed better looking skin!
Sleeping pacts (masks) are one of Korean skincare staples. But I have not had an outstanding one to share with you. Maybe I’ll find one for 2015!
Sarah Chapman Overnight Facial

Yes I know this is a lot of skincare products, it feels like pampering every other night for me 🙂 You might not fancy a lengthy skincare routine like mine, but whatever you do, wear sunscreen 🙂 It really is the best thing you can do for your skin. It does not matter where in the world you live.

Okie, that’s all from me! I hope you’ve enjoyed these 2014 round-up posts! I enjoy sharing with you what has worked for me. Would love to hear about yours!
Bye bye 2014 and welcome 2015!

Best of luck and happy new year from me to you!

Alpha H Daily Essential Moisturiser and Absolute Eye Complex Product review photo swatch @iamcherrylemon #SkincareFridays

Woohoo Friday is here (happy dance)! This means I have another instalment of #SkincareFridays for you 🙂
We have 2 products from Alpha H for today’s review, the daily essential moisturiser and the eye gel. This is actually from a discovery set I’ve bought awhile back. Alpha H is a well-known salon skincare range from Australia.

Alpha H Absolute Eye Complex

This is a very light weight gel-like eye product. It aims to hydrate your eye area, refresh and rejuvenate tired eyes.
It claims to have firming properties but I can’t see the difference on my eye areas yet. But I am impressed with the hydrating feel it gives me. It doesn’t feel heavy and it hasn’t given me any issue. Because of its texture and lightness, it absorbs well into my under eye areas.  It also wears well under makeup.

Alpha H Daily Essential Moisturiser with SPF50+

This is facial moisturiser with high sun factors, it is very important to at least incorporate some sun protection in your daily routine. I must admit I am not very good at it, but I will go out with at least SPF25 in my skincare or makeup all seasons of the year.

For years I hated sun lotion for the face, it is always too heavy and causes breakout on me. Apply a sun lotion and white heads will magically appear on the very next day. So I am so glad this moisturiser is not heavy, does not clog pores (non-comedogenic) and does not leave a white cast on me.

It gives good moisturise for my combination oily skin, it does not feel heavy and it wears well under makeup. 1 downside, it has a faint but noticeable “SPF” smell?? It does not bother too much, as it doesn’t linger.

The kit I have got is no longer available, here’s a similar one. Beauty Bay Link @ £29.90

It is a good idea to try out the discovery set before getting the bigger sizes. This serves the purpose at the time. I have used the liquid gold, balancing cleanser and micro cleanse (exfoliator) in the same range, I hope to review those at a later stage.

I have had issues with the Gentle Daily Exfoliant with papaya and pineapple extracts, my skin does not agree to it, so I have already sent it back. I won’t be reviewing the product in this blog. Hehehe so I won’t be buying the discovery set again. But I have already bought the liquid gold in larger size J

Okie everyone, have a great Friday today! And a joyful weekend.

Take care

xxoo

Skincare Product review: LUSH Let the Good Times Roll (Facial Cleanser / Exfoliator) #SkincareFridays

Lush Cosmetics ~ Let the Good Times Roll (Facial Cleanser / Exfoliator) and Popcorn Lip Scrub @iamcherrylemon

Good morning people! It is Easter Friday today, for many of us, today is the start of a 4 day weekend in the UK 😀 YAY!

Today’s skincare product under review is from LUSH Cosmetics. LUSH is a brand that I have not explored and stores that I have never visited. It always smell fantastic whenever I walk past a Lush store, every store is always jam packed with customers, and it looks scary to me! I don’t know why… the stores have buckets of products everywhere.. I wouldn’t know where to begin. So I have never made an effort in checking them out. Until I got this Lush product from Elly as part of my birthday gift last month.

Who’s Lush? Lush is a cosmetic company born and bred in the UK. Their head quarter is in Poole, Dorset. Lush is currently in their 20th year since launching in 1994.

They sell handmade products that are created using mostly natural (not 100% Vegan) ingredients, you will find most of their products are preservative free. Hence the short shelf life on some of their product lines (including this facial cleanser!). Lush is against animal testing, their containers are made of recycled materials. (plus you get a free face mask for returning 5 empty Lush tubs!) I love companies that encourage consumer to recycle! Big thumbs up!

Lush Cosmetics ~ Let the Good Times Roll Facial Cleanser Exfoliator @iamcherrylemon

This is my first proper LUSH product… Let the Good Times Roll was a limited edition product for Christmas 2013, but they have made this a permanent line recently. Apparently it was such a big hit that this is bought back to the shops by popular demand. That’s always a good sign!

Product

This facial cleanser comes in a black recycled plastic tub, it is such cute packaging! Upon opening the tub, you will see the caramel-coloured contents! ahhaha This remains me play dough in the play dough tub!! Actually the consistency of the product is very much like play dough, very doughy and squishy. Although this is a cleanser but with the micro granules (gritty bits), this can be used as an exfoliator.

This product smells pleasantly sweet! Official website description of the smell is, “Buttery popcorn” 😀

This product has a 3 month shelf life as its made with fresh ingredients and contains no preservatives (such as parabens!).

Ingredient list: Maize flour (gentle exfoliator); Polenta (mineral and vitamin packed); Cinnamon powder (warming and stimulating); Corn oil (skin and hair booster). It also contains Glycerine, talc, water, perfume, gardenia extract and popcorn! Apart from perfume, which is a safe synthetics, all other ingredients are natural.

Application

For face: pick a pea sized piece of cleanser, add few drops of water to make it into a paste. Rub the paste onto slightly damp skin and exfoliate in circular motions for about a minute. The maize flour and polenta will work its magic, be careful  not to rub too hard as it may cause damage to the skin (as you would with other facial scrubs!).

Rinse off with warm water, then pat skin dry with a face cloth.

For rest of body: use as much as you require to make the paste!

Results

After each application, my skin feels clean, softer and smoother. This product works for my combination/oily skin and it does not irritate. (You can try a tester in any Lush stores, they’d love you to try their products!)

I am not a big fan of gritty face scrubs but this is one exceptional exfoliator, I just love this and will incorporate into my skincare routine 😀 I will use this as well as my trusty Ginvera marvel gel for my weekly exfoliation!

Price: £6.35 for 100g, also available for £15.58 for 250g

Availability: Lush online (lush.co.uk), in-store and lush worldwide online stores

Overall Summary: 4/5; Super lovely exfoliator! I would have given it a 5 if I didn’t have to rush and finish the product within 3 months!!

Skincare Product review: Utena Puresa facial sheet masks with Pearl Extract

image

Hello,  I’m back today with another skincare product review .. hmm I might think about skincare Fridays in the future :p

Sheet masks are like Marmite… you either love it or hate it. I love my sheet masks,  I find them super convenient, easy to use and non-messy, HA, nothing to wash is a big bonus too! They are probably not as economical as using mask from a tube but I like the fact that I can carry as many or as few on holiday/trips. Easy to pack too! This is one of many products from my Japan beauty haul.

Back to the review!  As I’ve explained before,  I didn’t actually know what I was buying at the time or if the products were any good during the  supermarket sweep at Matsumoto Kiyoshi. Let’s say I didn’t do my homework… yes some paid off and some I just couldn’t use (wrong shades).

The product
Each box contains 5 individually wrapped facial sheet masks.
(I couldn’t read the Japanese on the packaging, so the following information is taken online via official sites)
These facial sheet masks contain pearl extract and collagen, both known for their beautifying properties, moisturising and nourishing the skin. Each mask is packed with plenty of serum. It is fragrance free and colour free. It even sounds gentle!  ;p
According to yesstyle.com, this has won the best mask at Japan’s cosme award 2011 and it has sold over 16 million packs in Japan alone. Impressive!

image

Steps for application
1. Remove mask from sachet and apply mask onto face.
2. Align the mask well using the mouth and eye area as guideline. You can fold the eye area down as double-layered mask on the under eye area OR you can cover your lids.
3. Relax for 10 to 15 minutes
4. Remove mask and rinse face with warm water
5. Apply serum and moisturiser 🙂

It was super easy to use, the sheet mask is very thin yet strong. It laid very comfortably on my face and it stayed on for the full 10 minutes. It did not tear at all, even with me tugging and pulling it.
As the mask is very thin and flexible, it was almost 100% in contact with my face, no annoying bits so I don’t have to keep pressing and reapplying it! Great!
I have used sheet masks before that felt just like wet cardboard! Scratchy and I had to re-apply it constantly. That went into the bin straight away!

The results
I’ve noticed my skin tone is slightly more even, and skin felt more moisturised after the mask application (and before the serum obviously!).
Skin looked brighter than before and the brightening effect seems to have lasted overnight. I understand that these are temporary benefits but it lasted longer than I expected.

Would I buy again?
I believe if your skin is normal and just needed a pick-me-up then this is perfect for you. My skin was dehydrated, dull and tired. So I needed something with more OoMph. So I probably won’t buy it again as I like trying new skincare products and I only stick with products that wows me 😛

image

Price:  $12 usd on yesstyle.com
Availability: yesstyle.com, Sasa.com or major drugstores in Asia (I believe I have seen some on Amazon and ebay)

Overall summary: 3 out of 5! Good product that would benefits normal skin

Thank you for dropping by and have the most wonderful weekend!
