Meebox May 2017 – Lost City (Unboxing and inspired nail art)

Hello there! Another month another Meebox, yay!  I’m too excited, let’s get straight into unboxing!

Box content:

  • Ruby Wing colour changing polish in “Hello Sailor” £9.95
  • Cuccio nail polish in “Pier pressure” £7.50
  • Annika “Blue Lagoon” £4.20
  • House of Wonderland Meebox Lost City water decals £5
  • NCLA “Take it Off” Soy remover wipes £12.50 from nail polish direct

Total box retail value at just under £40

Ruby Wing “Hello Sailor”

This is a UV colour changing polish. At normal indoor state, this polish is a paler shimmery orange. It turns into a darker shimmer orange while being outdoor. I think these UV colour changing polishes are better for the summer! I’ve been trying to use thermal polishes recently and it won’t change colours because everything and everywhere is just so warm. Good addition to my collection, I already have another one from Ruby Wing and I adore it!

Cuccio “Pier pressure”

This is a pale pink nude beige, a very flattening shade on the nails. I like this very much and have already used it in many nail designs. It is easy to use, opaque and looking gorgeous in 2 coats.

Annika “Blue Lagoon”

This colour is just stunning, a bright and beautiful teal blue fabulous for the summer months. It applies beautifully and dries to a gorgeous high shine finish. I believe everyone needs this polish in their collection, I’m definitely keeping mine.

House of Wonderland Meebox Lost City decals

I don’t normally use decals because I’m such a stamping addict. But I do love the convenience of a water decal, cut, wet and apply. It can’t possibly get any easier 🙂 It involves very simple steps and it can look stunning. The designs on this sheet is fitting to the theme “Lost City”. The only thing I don’t quite like about it, is that the designs are printed too closely together on the sheet. It took me awhile to carefully cut round the designs I like. But other than that, the decals works great.

NCLA “Take it off” remover wipes

My cuticles are very prone to dryness, so the idea of non acetone removal wipes really interests me.

After one use, I do find it doesn’t dry my cuticles like acetone does. It feels kinder to my skin and nails. It did a great job at removing my mani.
What is Meebox?

Meebox is a monthly subscription box for people who loves nails and manicures. It costs £20 a month postage included. Every month, there will be 3 polishes (or more), nail art and nail care items.

Nail art

Here’s a manicure I’ve created using all the items from this month’s Meebox.

I totally abused the dry brush technique here! But I love how it turns out, the “Blue lagoon” and “Pier pressure” create a scene of strong waves. “hey sailor” shimmers through and looks absolutely amazing as the base colour. So… Without putting any words in your head.. Does it look like crashing waves and evening sunset in the tropics? :p

For the accent nails, I’ve used dry brush technique again, created a base for the water decals. I do like the look of this, and will definitely recreate the “crashing waves” soon.

What do you think??

Thank you for reading and have a great day!

Hello and Happy Sunday! Moyou London has recently launched a brand new collection called “Origami”. It has many origami related designs, some are very pretty, intricate and some are super cute. I’ve selected few plates to play with and I’m using plate 05 for today’s manicure.

I’ve started off with a pastel gradient using the 2 Barry M Gellys. Topped with Essie luxe effect to give the “sea life” scene a little magical feel!
I’ve created 4 DIY stamping decals using the Origami plate. The images on this plate are adorable!!

What I’ve used for this manicure:

  • Moyou London Origami Collection plate 5
  • Konad special stamping polish in White
  • Barry M Gelly Nail Paints in Elderberry and Prickly Pear
  • Essie luxe effect
  • Color Club holographic polishes in Harp on it and Eternity Beauty (for decals)
  • Hk girl Fast drying top coat

NOTD Distressed Neon Manicure using dry brush technique

NOTD Neon Distressed Manicure (Dry Brush Technique) @iamcherrylemon

NOTD Neon Distressed Manicure (Dry Brush Technique) @iamcherrylemon

Morning! Happy Sunday!

For Today’s manicure, I’ve combined a new nail art technique (new to me!) and a hot summer nail art trend. Dry brush technique is super cool and super easy to do!

As you can see I can probably improve on the dry brush part! It doesn’t look as “cool” as it should! But I’m pretty happy with the colours. The neon studs were a fabulous addition, love them!

What is dry brush technique?

It really is what it reads! Using a dry nail colour brush!

On a base colour, use a dry brush to paint abstract or graffiti-like strokes.

To get that, you just wipe off majority of the polish on the nail colour brush. I only made sure I deposit it all back into the bottle. Test the “dryness” on a piece of paper before painting my dry brush pattern…. Sounds 10 times more difficult than it really is. But it really is simple to do 🙂

What I’ve used:

  • Illamasqua nail varnish in Force (Dark purple blue)
  • Illamasqua nail varnish in Collide (Neon pink)
  • Essie nail polish in Blanc
  • Models Own nail polish in Neon Yellow
  • Colour Club nail polish in Cloud Nine (holographic)
  • Neon yellow and pink square studs

Neons are wonderful colours to use in summer manicure. They looks so good against tanned skin and have such a fun presence on any mani! Must make more use of these neons 🙂

Thank you for reading and have a great week ahead!

Hello there! Happy Tuesday!
This is a simple stamped manicure, the base colour is Illamasqua’s Jo’Mina stamped over with Models Own Chrome Silver. The mani was decorated with two pink rhinestones on the accent nail. More importantly, I would like to share my thoughts on these items for stamping!

Why another stamper!?!? Many fellow stampers were raving about these golden mini stampers, so I got the set to find out 🙂 Look at my new toys! :p

Fab Ur Nails!
This is a indie stamping plate company from Philippines. I have purchased my set from Rainbow Connections (UK online nail supplies website).

The cost of the stamper set (stamper with scraper) is £6 (Rainbow Connection, no affiliated). For the stamper head, you can choose from four colours: Bright pink, bright green, blue and translucent clear).

This is by far my favourite stamper! No priming required, it picks up images beautifully and it’s not too expensive! It comes with a plastic card scraper.

The squishy stamper head is sticky and soft, this helps with picking up the tiniest details from intricate patterns.
The stamper can be conveniently placed standing up, ready and waiting when you get your plate images ready! It is small but easy to hold.

There isn’t a single thing about this stamper that I do not like! Really easy to use so it’s great for beginners!

This is fun plate 14 from the Fab Ur Nails collection. I’ve chosen this one for the lovely butterflies. But firstly, I’m testing this gorgeous floral design. The plate is well made and it cleans well. I can’t wait to try other designs available. There are few that would love fantastic as double stamping patterns!

Holo Grail Box March 2015 (Seussville) by Shop Dazzled #NOTD #Holographic

Holo Grail Box March 2015 (Seussville) by Shop Dazzled @iamcherrylemon

Holo Grail Box March 2015 (Seussville) by Shop Dazzled @iamcherrylemon

My goodness! I’ve been waiting for the arrival of this set for the longest of time!
Being the first timer ordering the holo-grail set from Dazzled, I had no idea when they will arrived,  thinking I’ll receive in March if it is a March set! But it arrived into the UK on 1st April. I would have forgotten about this order if it was cheaper 😛

Anyhow,  what is Holo-Grail?
Dazzled.com works with indie nail polish makers to create a set of 4 exclusive and limited edition holographic polishes. So these babies are rare, ok? 😛 Dazzled.com works with Lilypad Lacquer, Emily de Molly, Too Fancy Lacquer as well as many talented individual Indie makers.
I love these brands so when I’ve found out how unique these polishes will be… I couldn’t wait to get some myself. Every holo grail box is themed, March’s box is “Seussville” and April box is “80s Girl Power”. I’ve seen cat in the hat before but I’m not familiar with it. So the more I read up about it, the more interesting this theme gets!

All swatched are done with 2 coats without a top coat.

On to the polishes!
First up we have “The Lorax” by Octopus Party Nail Lacquer, it had been described as an orange holo with yellow flakes. This is probably the most eye catching, most impressive holo from this box for me. I love it. I do not own any holo (or polish) that looks like this. I won’t call it orange holo, it’s more golden than your average orange! But this is very close resemblance to the colour of Lorax!
It is beautiful regardless, I can’t stop staring it how the holo bends in this one. I believe this will be just as breathtakingly beautiful with some stamping on it.

Next up, we have “Oh, the places you’ll go” by Philly loves Lacquer.
This is a creamy purple with scattered holo shimmer. I didn’t think I would like it but I am falling for it big time. This lilac will be perfect for Spring/Summer, it is special with the extra holo particles!

Thirdly, we have Lilypad Lacquer! One of the most famous indie brands (to me anyway). Their polishes are almost guaranteed to be great. I slowly building a nice Lilypad collection.
The name for this polish is “The Cat in the Hat”, it has been described as a black holo with pinky red shimmer and multi colour holo. This looks nicer on nails than in the bottle itself. I don’t have a black holo so I’m glad to get one that’s so unique too. It doesn’t have a high shine finish.

Lastly, we have “Call it Love” by Too Fancy Lacquer. I adore this pink, it is kind of rosey with a hint of peach. It has been described as a bright pink happy holo. I can’t help but smile at this, it has the most appropriate name.
The consistency of this polish is a funny on the thicker side. Making it opaque in one coat but hard to get it nice and smooth.

I really enjoyed this holo grail box. I love getting amazing holo polishes that are totally exclusive and beautifully made. I get to sample brands that I would not normally hear of or be able to get my hands on. Thank you for introducing me to Dr Seuss quotes!

I didn’t order April nor May! Maybe June? For more details, you can go to Shop Dazzled official website.

Each box costs around $465HKD plus shipping at Shop Dazzled.

NOTD Valentine’s Manicure featuring Cute Pandas water decals on Gradient Nails Plus reviews on stamping plate BP QA86

NOTD Valentine’s Manicure using Barry M Gellys and Water Decals @iamcherrylemon

Hello and Happy Saturday! We are a week away from Valentine’s day, so today I am sharing a manicure I’ve completed using water decals. Those pandas are ultra cute! I have always liked pandas 🙂

What I’ve used in this manicure:

  • Born Pretty Water Decals BE149
  • Born Pretty Stamping plate QA86
  • Barry M Gelly Nail Paints in Guava, Prickly Pear and Grapefruit (Gradient colours)
  • La Rosa Polish in White (Base)
  • Konad stamping polish in White
  • HK Girl Fast Drying top coat

I do like using water decals for manicures as it takes no time at all. Results are impressive but probably not as satisfying as drawing them yourself. To be honest, I am not that good at free hand drawing on nails anyway!! This is the first time I am using these panda water decals, I thought the panda with hearts will be perfect for Valentine’s manicure and they are! This design is only $1.99, you can get these from Born Pretty nailart store.

I love this stamping plate, for which I have already completed a gorgeous snowflake manicure using it (see post). This stamping plate QA86 is $2.99 from Born Pretty nail art store. You can use the discount code FTL91 for 10% off on your orders. This plate has a strip of beautiful snowflakes across the plate and some funky heart shapes. It could be tricky to clean if you are using cotton balls, as the tiny teeny details will catch onto the fleece. So use a lint free cloth if you have one. Else, use a lint roller to pick up any fluff!

Barry M Gellys are great, they are ultra high shine, great for gradient nail art and they are only about £3.99 each! I get mine from Boots during 3 for 2 offers! The gradient polishes were chosen to represent lovely evening colours of the sky. I do like how they are integrating and it is dark enough as a background for the panda decals. I have used Prickly Pear (used with water decals again), Guava and Grapefruit (1 and 2) before, Prickly Pear is a very popular shade among nail art hobbyist in the UK.

Thank you for reading! Enjoy the weekend!

This post does not contain affiliate links, the discount is not affiliated so feel free to use it and share it with your family and friends.

Born Pretty has kindly sent me the stamping plate and the water decals for review purposes. All opinions are my own and this post is not sponsored.

NOTD Halloween inspired stamped manicure using China Glaze polish in Riverting Stamped with Moyou London Kaleidoscope Plate Collection 09 @iamcherrylemon

Hello and Happy Friday, I’ve been AWOL… Please excuse me! Today I’m back with a Halloween inspired manicure.
At work, I don’t think anyone will take me seriously if I start wearing and drawing skulls and creepy crawlies on my nails XD
It did cross my mind what kinda spiders I want thou 😛 so here’s a toned down version with just the right colours.

Riveting is a brilliant orange shimmer, it fires up while in direct sunlight or with flash. I like it alot but I don’t wear it enough. I normally like pairing it with China Glaze “Electrifying”. Yes they make a serious orange overkill!

I’ve chosen to use this Moyou plate image for its simple yet effective design. It is not the most intricate design so it’s very easy to use and for the stamper to pick up the image clearly.

What I’ve used:

Thank you and until next time. .. Have fun 🙂

Hello there! Do you like Damask? I love Damask patterns, classic and so calming (for me anyway! ) to look at, especially if the pattern is done in harmonising colours.
I got inspired by this image, it was a cookie gift box from Evelyn and Crabtree! We demolished the cookies and tea in no time, so I saved a photo of the box ♡♡ The mani should look better with antique gold polish paint, but this is the closest I can find from my stash 😉

Barry M Silks Nail Paint has been featured on my blog multiple of times! I swear I have more than 1 bottle of polish ahahha

Hiya there 🙂
I lied in my last post, that wasn’t the last summer NOTD… this will be. I totally forgot I had this manicure photographed couple of weeks back. My bad!
I received this Shell Manicure set at my last clothes swap with my girley friends, where we swap clothes, makeup, shoes,  home stuff, general beauty etc. I love clothes swap as you might already know. .. We always have so much fun 🙂

I’ve only started playing with texture manis not that long ago. I’ve started with Caviar manicure, it’s 3D but not too practical. Very pretty thou 😉

“She Sells Seashells” is a very lovely mixture of pink based shell pieces, mostly pink but it also has green, yellow, purple and darker pink pieces. I probably didn’t use enough shell pieces 😛

NOTD Ciaté London Shell Manicure - She Sells Sea Shells @iamcherrylemon

NOTD Ciaté London Shell Manicure – She Sells Sea Shells @iamcherrylemon

Today’s shell is applied/completed in the same fashion as Caviar manicure. I have used Barry M’s Gelly nail paint in Grapefruit.

  1. Apply base coat and 1 coat of nail polish (your base colour)
  2. Apply 2nd layer of the nail colour and pour the shell pieces onto the nail while the polish is still wet.
  3. Press on the shell to make sure all pieces are secured.
  4. Apply top coat to protect your manicure.

Pressing on the shell pieces not only will secure its place, you’ll also flatten it so that nothing sharp with poke out.

Price: £20 (The Shell mani set comes with a bottle Fun Fair and a bottle of pink based shell mixture)

Availability: Ciate online, Debenhams

Overall Score: 3/5 🙂

And the possible dupe! I went to Poundworld and found a pack of shell mixture in 6 different colours 🙂 yup all for £1!

DIY Stamping Decals with Moyou London Princess Collection Stamping Plates and Barry M Silk Nail Paints photo swatch @iamcherrylemon

DIY Stamping Decals with Moyou London Princess Collection Stamping Plates and Barry M Silk Nail Paints photo swatch @iamcherrylemon

Hello there 🙂
I’ve attempted to create DIY stamping decals, it looked so easy on YouTube tutorials. It’s not easy. Then again they are experts/gurus… but at least I had fun trying! (Please excuse the smudges! That’s what impatience do to nailart :p )

Plates used:
Graphic prints: Moyou London Princess collection 11 (for pointer)
Ice cream cone and Lolly prints: Moyou London Suki collection 3 (for middle and ring fingers)

Things I’ve learned:

  • Use any plate! Just pick a design that you can colour like a picture from the colouring book!
  • Stick with proper stamping polish for the stamping part (the outline), it will make life easier. I’ve used normal polishes for the fill in colours.
  • Have patience! It could take some practicing.
  • Again, have patience and wait for everything to dry before proceeding to the next step (I did rush and it ruin the decal and my painted nail! ).

There are a few methods in how to create stamping decals. Pick the one you think you can manage/master!

For this manicure, I’ve used Barry M’s Silks in Mist and Meadow. This will be my last summer inspired NOTD as it’s not summer where I live now 😛

It’s almost sad having to pack away my summer bright colours. I’ve enjoyed summer nail arts. Next nail post? Autumn stamping manicure in full throttle!

Here’s another photo before I decide to add the ice cream cone and lolly print 😛
