Marks and Spencer Summer Beauty box 2016 – Unboxing

Marks and Spencer Summer Beauty box 2016 (box contents)

Marks and Spencer Summer Beauty box 2016 (box contents)

Hello there!

We’re approaching mid August already! Summer has truly and quietly crept in and slowly creeping out!

Today I’m sharing a quick unboxing post with you. This is the Marks and Spencer Summer Beauty box 2016. M&S curated this limited edition beauty box and selling it for only £10 when you spend £40 in store or online. A very kind lady was asking in our beauty group who wants the box as she’s placing her order but not wanting the box herself. So I was lucky to only have to pay for the box and postage!

This box’s totally RRP value is around £120, so for £10 this is the bargain of the decade! (OK a bit OTT but you get the gist!)
So, what’s inside

• Swell ultimate protect and renew serum 30ml

• Rodial Dragon’s blood hyaluronic tonic 50ml

• Philip Kingsley citrus sunshine swimcap 50ml

• Pure instant radiance hot cloth cleanser 50ml

• Ren instant firming beauty shot 10ml

• Island escape eau de toilette 25ml

•Nuxe huile prodigieuse 10ml

• Ultrasun face SPF30 25ml

• Pur correcting primer illuminate and glow 10ml

• Sun Smart sun lotion SPF30 50ml

• Leighton Denny crystal finish quick dry top coat 12ml

• Stila lip glaze raspberry 1.5ml

• Nails Inc gel one coat nail polish 10ml

• Percy and Reed volumising no oil oil 30ml

I’ve started using the Ultra sun and keeping it in my handbag. It is my top choice for sun protection for face  (my review here).

I wasn’t too sure when I found out about the fragrance as I just don’t get along with many. But I’m surprised to find that M&S Escape smells refreshing and floral. It is a very pretty scent.

I can’t wait to test out the Leighton Denny fast drying top coat!

Unfortunately, this box is already sold out. But keep an eye out for future releases as M&S beauty boxes are usually pretty good value! This time, the entire box is very well put together and great for summer.
Thank you for reading and have a sunny warm day!

Innisfree Hydrogel Mask (Perfect 9 Repair and Green Tea) review @iamcherrylemon

Innisfree hydro gel masks (Green Tea and Perfect 9 Repair) #K-Beauty skincare review

Innisfree Hydrogel Mask (Perfect 9 Repair and Green Tea) review @iamcherrylemon

Innisfree Hydrogel Mask (Perfect 9 Repair and Green Tea) review @iamcherrylemon

I’m reviewing 2 Innisfree Hydro Gel masks, these were purchased from TesterKorea online store.

I love using hydro gel masks, for me, they adhere to my face better, my skin always feel deeply hydrated and plump after use.
I was on holiday while I tested these masks. My skin felt irritated, tired and in desperate need of hydration!
Green Tea

Innisfree Hydrogel Mask (Green Tea) review @iamcherrylemon

Innisfree Hydrogel Mask (Green Tea) review @iamcherrylemon

I loved using the “It’s a real squeeze Green tea mask” (review here). So I had high expectations for this one!

This mask claims to deeply hydrates the skin and soothe daily damage from the elements.

The product : Like most of other branded hydro gel masks, this one also comes in 2 pieces. Separate ones for upper part and lower part of the face.

The mask pieces are embedded in layers of clear plastic backings. It was a real hassle to get them out of its packaging and separating the pieces. The mask pieces are unusually thin compare to normal hydro gel masks. It feels firmer to the touch and not as flexible.
Instructions: Apply upper part of the mask first before finishing applying the lower part. Leave on for 20 to 25 minutes. Pat on the remaining essence and finish off with your normal skin routine.
Results: I’ve left it on for around an hour as my skin needed the extra tlc! The mask pieces felt sticky-dry to the touch, it seems that my skin has absorbed it all in! It obviously needed it?

Anyhow, the skin felt normal afterwards and the dryness on my face came back the very next morning.
Score: 2 out of 5!

I won’t be repurchasing this one and most likely to go back to the “It’s a squeeze” version.

£2.50 + Postage from Innisfree Official, or stalk TesterKorea site for restock! You can get this alot cheaper there.

Innisfree Hydrogel Mask (Perfect 9 Repair) review @iamcherrylemon

This gel mask has the same feel to the green tea version. It doesn’t fully adhering to the face contour. I don’t normally have this problem with hydro gel masks.
Result: I’ve left this mask on for around 30 minutes. This time my skin feels softer and more hydrated. I’m pretty impressed (comparing to the green tea gel mask). I doubt my skin will benefit from the anti-aging properties of this mask with just one use. But it does a very good job on moisturising my skin.

Score: 3.5

Innisfree Hydrogel Mask (Perfect 9 Repair) review @iamcherrylemon

Summary

I’m slightly disappointed with the green tea hydro gel mask, the perfect 9 is better but still not as impressive as expected. I would suggest you go for the “It’s a real squeeze” normal sheet mask range if you had to choose between the two mask types.

Thank you and I hope you enjoyed this post 🙂

Review: Canmake Marshmallow Finish Powder SPF26 PA+++ (MB Matte Beige) #J-Beauty

image

Canmake Marshmallow finish powder MB SPF26 PA (UV protection sunscreen powder) @iamcherrylemon

Hi there! Today, I’ll be sharing my review on a Japanese beauty product that I’ve been testing out for the past few months.

I won’t lie to you, oh no I won’t 😛 I was attracted to its packaging. Who doesn’t like cute and princessy makeup? It looks so adorable 😛 I love getting this out from my handbag other than my Dior compact!

What is it?
This is a powder compact that most users would use it as powder foundation or blotting powder. It comes with a powder puff and a sizeable mirror inside.

image

Canmake Marshmallow finish powder MB SPF26 PA (UV protection sunscreen powder) @iamcherrylemon

It has light to medium finish when applied using a brush. You can achieve a decent medium coverage with this powder alone when using the accompanying powder puff.

The powder is finely milled and I have not had a cakey finish with this. It goes on smoothly and it can even out skintone very nicely.

It contains 72% Natural mineral ingredients and plant extracts (aloe vera leaf, chamomile, lemon and rosemary extracts for moisturising).

Three colour option available (official description from website):
[MO] Matte Ochre
A matte light ochre that will make your skin look brighter in an instant
[MB] Matte Beige Ochre
An ochre shade that quickly and easily blends into your skin
[ML] Matte Light Ochre
A bright ochre, for a highly translucent look

image

Canmake Marshmallow finish powder MB SPF26 PA (UV protection sunscreen powder) @iamcherrylemon

This powder compact is also available in loose powder format.

How effective?
My powder compact is in MB matte beige. It seems to be a good match for my skintone.
I only use this for blotting purposes only and top up during the day. It helps me to keep shine at bay.
When my liquid foundation wears off, I’m happy to use this as a top up. It gives me a decent coverage that last me a good few hours on my oily skin. It does cling onto dry patches, so I would only recommend this to oily and normal skin types.
I haven’t used this as powder foundation alone.

Pros :
Evens skintone
Very fine and soft texture (just like its name “Marshmallow”)
Provides light to medium-light coverage
Great for blotting and keep shine away
Affordable
Upto 72% Natural mineral ingredients (kinder to skin)
The compact is plastic so it adds no weight in your handbag!

Cons :
It can cling onto dry patches, do not apply too much!
The compact is plastic and doesn’t feel expensive 😛

Price: approx £12 from eBay UK (Shipped from Japan)
$12 from Amazon US

Review: Clinique Liquid Facial Soap and Take The Day Off Makeup Remover For Lids, Lashes & Lips

Clinique Liquid Facial Soap and Take The Day Off Makeup Remover For Lids, Lashes & Lips @iamcherrylemon

Clinique Liquid Facial Soap and Take The Day Off Makeup Remover For Lids, Lashes & Lips @iamcherrylemon

Good day!
This post has been long overdue! I’ve been using these two products and had the urge to review them as soon as I’ve almost finished them!
Clinique is not a brand I’ve been using frequently. I used to be a big fan when I was a teenager! As the products are slightly more affordable compared to other high end brands! I loved their Quickliner for Eyes in Smoky Brown! Anything from lipsticks, facial soap blocks, anti blemish products to “Super balanced” foundation! Forgot how I fell out of love with Clinique.
Anyhow, here’s my thoughts on the liquid facial soap and eye makeup remover!

Liquid Facial Soap Mild formula for dry combination skin
This version has been designed for people with combination skin. It is 100% fragrance free and non drying. It feels very gentle on the skin and it does not strip natural oil from the skin itself. But it still manages to cleanse well and not leaving the skin feels tight.
This is step one Clinque’s famous 3 steps skincare system. “Cleanse. Exfoliate. Moisturise.”
I used it after my cleansing balm so it doesn’t have to tackle my long wearing foundation! It is used purely as a second cleanse 🙂 It removes every last trace of makeup from my face.

This standard bottle of liquid soap comes in a dispenser bottle. You can also find the facial soap bar if you prefer soap blocks to liquid soap. I do reckon the soap blocks last longer compared to liquid soap!

£16.50 for 200ml
Summary: A good gentle facial cleanser that’s suitable for sensitive skin users. Non drying and fragrance free.

Take The Day Off Makeup Remover For Lids, Lashes & Lips
This is a biphase eye makeup remover. It doesn’t feel greasy on the lids at all. This eye makeup remover is very gentle on the eyes, it is also suitable for contact lense wearers.
It removes my waterproof mascara very well and rest of the eye makeup. I really enjoyed using this product.
It is slightly cheaper (£5!) to use comparing to my holy grail product “Chanel Gentle Bi- phase Eye Make-Up Remover”.

£17 for 125ml
Summary: Gentle yet effective eye makeup remover, great for sensitive eyes

REVIEW: Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble clay mask #KBeauty

Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask @iamcherrylemon

Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask @iamcherrylemon

Hello everyone! Hope you’re well and enjoying the warmer and brighter week days!

Today’s review post is on one of the most fun and iconic product by Elizavecca. Elizavecca is a Korean skincare brand and it has a wide range of skincare products. Most are effective and kind to the skin. I do like this range alot 🙂
This is a well known and trusted brand, products are hot sellers on many KBeauty sites which is a very good sign!

Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask @iamcherrylemon

Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask @iamcherrylemon

This has also caused a huge problem as there are many imitations of their products. These imitations are so alike that you would require an expert to tell them apart.

Fortunately, Elizavecca has made it easier to identify genuine products. Each product would have a verification code that you can use to check it’s  authenticity on Elizavecca’s official website.
But to check you would have to buy the suspicious item first! So I should suggest that you only buy these from trusted KBeauty online merchants. Save you a lot of hassle 😦

The packaging
At a glance, it is the standard trademarked Piggy on the packaging. Appeals to the general public in Korea, it does look cute and instantly recognisable.
Standard plastic tub with screw top lid, air tight cover to keep the clay mask fresh and away from moisture. There is a small plastic spatula inside the packaging.

Very important note: keep the inner air tight lid closed when not in used, any additional moisture and exposure to oxygen will activate the bubbling effects of the clay mask. Once activated, the clay mask will be ruined and won’t work next time!

Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask @iamcherrylemon

Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask @iamcherrylemon

The product
Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask is a bubbling clay mask that promises to clean your pores and help with removing black heads.
This mask is an unique blend of carbonated water, it contains Green tea, Pomegranate extract as well as Charcoal powder. The Charcoal powder with bubbles  can deeply penetrate the pores to remove dirt, sebum and impurities.

It is said to be suitable for all skin types. It is also recommended for makeup removal but I am a bit OTT and would prefer to use proper makeup remover. I have not tested this clay mask for makeup removal!

Fragrance/ Texture
The clay mask is of a funny texture, very jelly-like and goopy. The dark grey clay mask smells clean and not muddy at all.
Once applied onto the skin, the colour turns slightly lighter and it starts to bubble up within minutes. Be cautious, it is best not to use too much product especially around the eye area.

Effectiveness
Following the proper usage of the mask, the skin feels clean and bright without the tightness. So I know it hasn’t strip the natural oils away. The skin is soft to the touch. I’m loving this!

How to use?
1. Apply the clay mask directly onto dry, uncleaned face using the spatula provided.
2. Wait for 5 mins for the bubbles to start activate.
3. Leave on for another 5 to 10 minutes and massage the mask with wet/damp hands for extra cleansing.
4. Rinse off with warm water and apply toner afterwards.

My Skincare Empties – August 2015

2015 August Empties from Cherry Lemon Beauty Blog @iamcherrylemon

2015 August Empties from Cherry Lemon Beauty Blog @iamcherrylemon

Hello! It took me forever to collect enough used up products to compile an empties blog post! Gosh, the effort!  😛
This is because the products I don’t like or not enjoy using will remain half used… very wasteful I know 😦
And I open another bottle before I know it! Anyhow,  let’s begin!

For Hands & Body!

2015 August Empties (CO Bigelow Lemon Handcream, Liz Earle Orange Flower Botanical Bath Wash and Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion) from @iamcherrylemon

2015 August Empties (CO Bigelow Lemon Handcream, Liz Earle Orange Flower Botanical Bath Wash and Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion) from @iamcherrylemon

C.O. Bigelow Lemon Hand Treatment

Ultra Moisturising and Skin-Brightening Formula (Bath & Body Works 85g) $16
This is my staple hand cream for many years, I love this stuff. It contains lemon oil, lemon extracts, grape seed oil and licorice extract. This hand cream smells deliciously like lemons. It’s sweet and refreshing at the same time.
The hand cream doesn’t take long to be absorbed into the skin. It leaves my hands moisturised and nourished.
I would definitely repurchase if I get to visit US again 🙂
Score: 3 out of 5

Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion, 200ml
This is my holy grail body lotion, I’ve an in-depth review post here.
Absolutely love this stuff, I’ve two extra backups of this lotion!
This is widely available in chemists and drugstores. I buy mine from Costco! 😛
Score: 5 out of 5!

Liz Earle Orange Flower Botanical Body Wash, 200ml
This is truly a heavenly body wash! It smells amazing, very natural and relaxing.
This body wash contains naturally active ingredients and pure essential oils to lift the spirits and scent the skin. It cleans well, I better mention this before I forget! It does leave the skin soft and smooth, even Mr Lemon loves using this body wash.
Big thumbs up!

For Cleansing!

2015 August Empties (Banila Co Clean it Zero Cleansing Balm Classic and Clarins Toning Lotion) from @iamcherrylemon

2015 August Empties (Banila Co Clean it Zero Cleansing Balm Classic and Clarins Toning Lotion) from @iamcherrylemon

Banila Co Clean it Zero (Classic Sherbet Cleanser)
A k-beauty product I got from my old Memebox days. This is probably one of my favourites. I have fallen in love with cleansing balm for makeup removal. This cleansing balm is affordable, smells like sorbet and it cleans amazingly well. I can’t fault it, hence I’ll retire my Emma Hardie cleansing balm and start using my backup purchase of this Clean it Zero!
Score: 4.5 out of 5

Clarins Toning Lotion with Iris (alcohol free) 400ml @ £24.50
To me, the job of a toner is to remove all the last traces of makeup and cleanser residue. Hence this forms the last step of my cleansing routine day and night.
The toner liquid is soft green, and has a faint fragrance to it. It might irritates the sensitive skin but it seems fine on mine.
A toner for removing leftovers from facial cleansing and preparing your skin for moisturiser/serum. It contains purifying plant extracts which helps to tighten pores and refreshes the skin.
The skin feels soft after application for me, but not sure about pores being tightened. I would recommend this for oily gals out there without sensitive skin. The alcohol free formula ensures your skin is not left dry, tight and stripped of natural oils.
I enjoyed using this but I won’t be repurchasing this. I love my Elemis toner too much that I have to go back to it now 😉
Score: 3 out of 5

For Facial Skincare!

2015 August Empties (Sarah Chapman Skinesis Intense Hydrating Booster and Vicioni Super Aquq Soothing Serum) from @iamcherrylemon

2015 August Empties (Sarah Chapman Skinesis Intense Hydrating Booster and Vicioni Super Aquq Soothing Serum) from @iamcherrylemon

Sarah Chapman Skinesis Intense Hydrating Booster
This is a lovely serum for dehydrated skin. It doesn’t feel heavy for oily skin,  it re-hydrates my skin enough for the next morning to look like I’ve had a facial! My full review of the product is here.

Score: 4 out of 5

Vicioni Super Aqua Soothing Serum 30ml, RRP $29

I’ve received this from one of my favourite Memebox collabration box with Soothing Sister (Stephanie Villa). This serum contains 100% natural ingredients and packed with vitamins and seas minerals. This serum works very well for me, with nightly use, my skin feels hydrated and very cooling. I like this serum so much that I have bought two more backups! I am not sure what I will do when I run out of it! As I currently cannot find an online K-Beauty retailer that sells it!

Score: 4.5 out of 5

Yes… for me to use up the whole bottle/tubes of product, I really have to like it enough 😉
Thank you for reading and have a great weekend ahead.

REVIEW: Burberry Lip & Cheek Bloom Blushing Colours

Burberry Lip & Cheek Bloom Blushing Colours in No.09 Poppy @iamcherrylemon

Burberry Lip & Cheek Bloom Blushing Colours in No.09 Poppy @iamcherrylemon

Hello there 🙂 Hope this post finds you well!
I’m reviewing one of the newer products I’ve bought in my recent makeup haul.
I’ve been using this cute little guy for more than a week now. I’ve tested this product on bare skin as well as on top of BB cream and foundation.

Official DescriptionAn airy, petal-soft flush of colour inspired by the hues of an English country garden
Effortlessly buildable across lips and cheeks for a subtle sheer wash or an intense result, the velvet texture remains transparent on the skin, gently blurring imperfections.
Mistake-proof Burberry Lip & Cheek Bloom can be gently applied with fingertips for an instantly moisturised feeling.

Burberry Lip & Cheek Bloom Blushing Colours in No.09 Poppy @iamcherrylemon

Burberry Lip & Cheek Bloom Blushing Colours in No.09 Poppy @iamcherrylemon

Product
This is a great 2 in 1 product for the summer months! Offered in 6 universally flattening shades.
The packaging screams “Buy me!” and I did 😀 I have always loved Burberry’s lip products! Let’s see how this performs…

Packaging
The product is housed in a lovely but weighty glass jar with an embossed metallic twist top lid. It looks cute yet elegant. It is a lot of packaging for 3.5g of product. I probably have chunky fingers and I keep getting knocked by the lid while trying to open it.
This won’t happen to any round jars but this is no ordinary branded item! Nice looking packaging but slightly impractical.
I do have long nails so I need to think of a way of getting to the product once it is running low. I will cross that bridge when I come to it ;P

Scent
I cannot detect any scent from this product, which is a good sign for those who are sensitive to scented products. I believe Burberry is phasing out scented products to appeal to a wider audience. But I do miss that vintage rose fragrance from some of the older products.

Colour/Pigmentation
The colour of my Lip & Cheek cream blush is No.09 Poppy. I chose it for its vibrant summer colour! I do love it on my lips, but it is a tad too strong for my cheeks. If I do not blend it out thinly, I would look sun burnt!
Once blended it out nicely, it would look nice with a pop of healthy tint!

Burberry Lip & Cheek Bloom Blushing Colours (Photo Swatches - no.09 Poppy) @iamcherrylemon

Burberry Lip & Cheek Bloom Blushing Colours (Photo Swatches – no.09 Poppy) @iamcherrylemon

Longevity
The product last really long as a cheek product and I am very impressed! I didn’t even set it with powder. It applies and looks great on bare skin as well as being part of full-face makeup.
However, the product did not last too long on the lips and it tinted them only very lightly. I did not mind reapplying it, as it feels really comfortable and soft on the lips.

Ease of use
Extremely easy, just remember less is more! Blend with fingers on your cheeks and apply directly onto your lips 🙂 easy peasy!

Overall Summary

Great little product to take in your handbag, it lasts really well as a cheek product and performs well as a lip tint. I would give this product 3.5 out of 5!

REVIEW: Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Nose Pack #Skincare

Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Nose Pack (Product Review) @iamcherrylemon

Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Nose Pack (Product Review) @iamcherrylemon

Hi there, hope the week has been going smoothly for you!

Today I am back and reviewing another blackhead remover nose pack, I have reviewed the Etude House version couple of weeks ago. It was a OK product but did not impress me too much.

The product under review is the Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Nose Pack. I love Innisfree products, my favourite one is the Volcanic Clay pore pack (review here). It is absolutely amazing, it lets my skin breathe after use as it feels like most of my pores are clean and clear! So I had high hopes for this Jeju volcanic nose pack!

The Packaging

It is plain and factual, nothing fancy nor cute for which I do not actually mind at all. The paper packet that the nose strips come in is made of paper and recyclable.

The Product

The product is made for nose, chin and forehead use. The company did not add any cutting into this for shaping. I do prefer some shaping so it can stick to my nose slightly better.

The strip does adhere well to the nose but your nose has to be thoroughly wet for this to happen! The beige colour strip looked like a huge plaster (band aid) on my nose while in use.

Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Nose Pack (Packaging) @iamcherrylemon

Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Nose Pack (Packaging) @iamcherrylemon

Official Description:

1. The Jeju volcanic clay treats pores, removing blackheads and impurities

2. It can be used on various areas of skin concerns, including nose, forehead and chin.

3. Lavender and aroma scent comfort your mind and body.

Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Nose Pack (Instructions in Korean) @iamcherrylemon

Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Nose Pack (Instructions in Korean) @iamcherrylemon

The Scent

Official description of the scent is lavender but it smelled more like herbal medicine to me. It is not an attractive scent to most.

To use (official usage instructions):

  1. After cleansing, thoroughly wet your nose.
  2. Peel off the transparent film on the back of the mask and attach it to the nose starting from the center, gently pressing the sides.
  3. After 10~15 minutes, when the mask completely dries, gently peel off the mask starting from the edge.
  4. After removing the sheet, even out the skin with the toner.

(Recommended use: 1~2 times per week on the forehead, nose and chin)

Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Nose Pack (Front and Back) @iamcherrylemon

Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Nose Pack (Front and Back) @iamcherrylemon

My take on the product

The nose pack adheres well to the nose area, and covers a pretty large area of the nose. But it did not get all the blackheads out, I believe I might need 2 of these instead of 1 of the Etude house nose pack for the job!

Comparing Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Nose pack to Etude House Green Tea nose pack, I do prefer the Etude House as it is gentler but still effective. The scent on the Innisfree nose pack is way too annoying for me.

Innisfree products are kinder to skin, so it could be a trade off? I will stick with my Super volcanic clay pack for unclogging pores and continue with my trusty Biore nose strips for blackheads!

Review: Tony Moly I’m Real Mask Sheet (Red Wine, Makgeolli, Seaweeds and Rice)

Tony Moly Im Real Sheet Masks (Red Wine, Makgeoli, Seaweeds and Rice) @iamcherrylemon

Tony Moly Im Real Sheet Masks (Red Wine, Makgeoli, Seaweeds and Rice) @iamcherrylemon

Hi there, today I’m reviewing four Tony Moly I’m Real Mask Sheets. I purchased these from TesterKorea during their brand sale event (25% discount). Watch out for their regular sale events. Great time to stock up on sheet masks!

I’m Real Mask Sheet – general attributes

The fit and cutting of the mask is good, it covers the entire face up to 95%. 5% not adhering to the skin due to the normal face contouring. However, the eyes and mouth placement are very good.

  • There’s 21ml of essence for each of these masks. It feels adequate and not too much at all.
  •  Each mask is made with 3 layers of rayon pulp
  • 5 free system: these masks are free of Paraben, Talc, Benzophenon, Triethanol and Tar Colouring

The usage instruction for each mask is the same. Put the mask directly onto clean skin, leave on for 20 to 30 mins. Massage the excess essence into the skin after use.

Tony Moly I'm Real Red Wine Mask Sheet for Pore Care @iamcherrylemon

Tony Moly I’m Real Red Wine Mask Sheet for Pore Care @iamcherrylemon

This is formulated specially for pore care. It evens uneven skin texture and minimise pores.

It contains red wine extract (1000ppm), this is 0.001 grams per litre! Tiny tiny amount.

It also has other botanic ingredients such as green tea extract, Rosemary extract and Rooibos extract.

I’m not a big fan of red wine infused face masks. Don’t boo me but I don’t touch alcohol and the smell of wine is not something I look forward to smelling!! But I can imagine many lovely ladies would love this!

I’ve tried the Innisfree version of red wine mask. This Tony Moly version smells less of the alcohol scent.

My thoughts:

It was pleasant to use, the scent totally disappeared after 5 mins. The essence was easily absorbed into the skin. My pores didn’t appear that much smaller, but I liked how it left my skin looking brighter and more hydrated. The leftover essence felt slightly sticky on the skin. If I wasn’t so tired, I would have washed it off!

Score: 3 out of 5

Makgeolli (Skin Purifying)

Makgeolli is a alcoholic beverage created with rice or wheat. It has been a very popular drink for farmers in Korea. As with sake, it has notably good skin benefits.

This mask contains 10,000 ppm makgeolli extracts. It claims to leave your skin bright and radiant.

My thoughts:

This mask probably has the best scent a mask can have. It is very faint and it smells of expensive skincare products! I loved the scent.

This mask contains an adequate amount of essence. It feels so comfortable on the skin. I actually fell asleep with it on for 10 mins. When it was removed after 30 mins, the leftover essence did not feel sticky on the face. I really enjoyed using this mask.

Seaweed (Skin Purifying)

Official claim: Seaweeds mask makes skin look bright and radiant with freshness of the sea.

My thoughts:

It does leave the skin feeling hydrated. The scent was pleasant; it doesn’t smell like artificial sea scents. Good mask but not my favourite. I am not sure about the skin purifying properties, the result might be more noticeable with regular use.

Score: 2.5 out of 5

Rice (Clear Skin)

Saving the best for last! This mask smells great, I am kinda addicted to this. The official claim for this mask, “Rice mask makes dull skin look radiant and glowing”. I am happy to report that this is not far from the truth.

My thoughts:

This is by far the best Tony Moly mask out of the four. I love how this mask feels on the skin, even better feeling afterwards. It has left my skin very soft and smooth. The leftover essence was good and did not feel sticky at all.

The skin looked bright and healthy in the next morning. I would most likely to repurchase this mask, and maybe try the other options too.

Score: 5 out of 5!
