#26GNAI 26 Great Nail Art Ideas – Going on Holiday

Happy Friday! It is #26GNAI time again! This week’s prompt is “Going on holiday”. Who doesn’t want to be on holiday, especially the weather is nice and sunny, perfect timing 🙂

Here is my “Going on Holiday” nail design! Isn’t it bright and cheerful?

#26GNAI Great nail art ideas -

#26GNAI Great nail art ideas – “Going on holiday” (Born Pretty stamping plates BPL-022 BP-L017) @iamcherrylemon

I layered stamped all the images and made 1 special stamping decal with the sunglasses image. I am actually quite happy with how it turns out, the multicolour stamped planes are so adorable!

Products used:

  • Barry M Gelly nail paint in Guava
  • Painted polish in Midnight mischief, Stamped in Mint, Stamped in Taro, Stamped in Starfruit, Stamped in Guava
  • Colour Alike white stamping polish
  • Born pretty stamping plates BPL-022 and BP-L017

Mini review on the stamping plates

The BPL-022 (#20787) is also known as the Geek pattern plate. It has 14 cute images with each measuring 14mm by 25mm, suitable for most nail lengths and the images won’t overwhelm shorter nails as well. Like all my Born Pretty plates, the images transferred well and appear very clear.

Geek

ThisI have wanted to use the sunglasses image for so long!

The BP-L017 (#19372) is known as the Summer Beach Sea stamping plate. It has 21 images and most of these are measured at 14mm by 19mm. These images are all very summery and easy to use. I received this as part of my first UK Indie box last year, I have used this plate before and I am still happy with it 🙂

maniswap with Instagram nail artist @nellemiemani (Pastel neon gradient nails with geometric designs) @iamcherrylemon

Hello there! Hope it is a nice and sunny day where you’re at! It is hitting high 20s in the UK today. The Sun is actually burning my skin right now.

Today’s post is on my mani swap with the lovely Gaia (IG @nellemiemani). Gaia has the most delicate and cut nail shapes! Her nail art designs are fabulous and a good variation of techniques.

To be honest, I panicked a bit when it was my turn to choose one of her designs for the mani swap.  I suddenly realised most of Gaia’s designs are extremely suited to her small but cute nails.

Anyhow, I’ve picked to recreate one of her recent nail designs. It has a bright pastel background with gorgeous stamping. Gaia has chosen to recreate my pastel gradient mother’s day mani! I love her version alot and I love the fact the two manicures are so similar but different.

IG @nellemiemani check out Gaia’s profile on Instagram 🙂 it’s pretty awesome!
Products used to create my recreation:

  • Pueen – Visual wonderland Stamping plate
  • Painted polish in Midnight mischief
  • Pretty Serious neon pastels in Fluffykins,  Bunny foofoo, Peachie poo, Doodle bug, Cutie Patootie and also a bright yellow called “Honey puff”
  • Wikkid polish in Star Dust
  • Glisten and Glow HK girl fast drying top coat
  • Makeup sponge
  • Rainbow connection liquid latex cuticle protector

What do you think? 🙂

Thank you for reading and have a lovely day.

Meebox May 2017 – Lost City (Unboxing and inspired nail art)

Hello there! Another month another Meebox, yay!  I’m too excited, let’s get straight into unboxing!

Box content:

  • Ruby Wing colour changing polish in “Hello Sailor” £9.95
  • Cuccio nail polish in “Pier pressure” £7.50
  • Annika “Blue Lagoon” £4.20
  • House of Wonderland Meebox Lost City water decals £5
  • NCLA “Take it Off” Soy remover wipes £12.50 from nail polish direct

Total box retail value at just under £40

Ruby Wing “Hello Sailor”

This is a UV colour changing polish. At normal indoor state, this polish is a paler shimmery orange. It turns into a darker shimmer orange while being outdoor. I think these UV colour changing polishes are better for the summer! I’ve been trying to use thermal polishes recently and it won’t change colours because everything and everywhere is just so warm. Good addition to my collection, I already have another one from Ruby Wing and I adore it!

Cuccio “Pier pressure”

This is a pale pink nude beige, a very flattening shade on the nails. I like this very much and have already used it in many nail designs. It is easy to use, opaque and looking gorgeous in 2 coats.

Annika “Blue Lagoon”

This colour is just stunning, a bright and beautiful teal blue fabulous for the summer months. It applies beautifully and dries to a gorgeous high shine finish. I believe everyone needs this polish in their collection, I’m definitely keeping mine.

House of Wonderland Meebox Lost City decals

I don’t normally use decals because I’m such a stamping addict. But I do love the convenience of a water decal, cut, wet and apply. It can’t possibly get any easier 🙂 It involves very simple steps and it can look stunning. The designs on this sheet is fitting to the theme “Lost City”. The only thing I don’t quite like about it, is that the designs are printed too closely together on the sheet. It took me awhile to carefully cut round the designs I like. But other than that, the decals works great.

NCLA “Take it off” remover wipes

My cuticles are very prone to dryness, so the idea of non acetone removal wipes really interests me.

After one use, I do find it doesn’t dry my cuticles like acetone does. It feels kinder to my skin and nails. It did a great job at removing my mani.
What is Meebox?

Meebox is a monthly subscription box for people who loves nails and manicures. It costs £20 a month postage included. Every month, there will be 3 polishes (or more), nail art and nail care items.

Nail art

Here’s a manicure I’ve created using all the items from this month’s Meebox.

I totally abused the dry brush technique here! But I love how it turns out, the “Blue lagoon” and “Pier pressure” create a scene of strong waves. “hey sailor” shimmers through and looks absolutely amazing as the base colour. So… Without putting any words in your head.. Does it look like crashing waves and evening sunset in the tropics? :p

For the accent nails, I’ve used dry brush technique again, created a base for the water decals. I do like the look of this, and will definitely recreate the “crashing waves” soon.

What do you think??

Thank you for reading and have a great day!

#26GreatNailArtIdeas “Water” Illamasqua Force and Cameo (Yours x Anna Lee: Ru Yi Stamping Plate) @iamcherrylemon

Hello there, hope you are well and happy Friday!
Today’s post is for the #26GNAI challenge, and the theme is “Water”. I have gone for …umm… Ocean and dragons. well Ocean is made up of water. I believe this fits the theme! (??)

I started the manicure with a blue gradient. The chosen stamping plate has this traditional painting sea image complete with dragons, the image is big so I can use all parts of the image to create a harmonised mani without repeats. BUT, obviously I had to (wrongly) stamped 1 design onto 2 nails. I blame late nights…

Products used:

  • Yours (Sascha Gossen x Anna Lee) Ru Yi stamping plate
  • Colour Alike – Kind of White stamping polish
  • Illamasqua nail varnishes in Force and Cameo
  • Zoya UK matte velvet lacquer

Mini review of the Yours x Anna Lee stamping plates

There are 4 plates within the set, 3 plates have 4 designs each and the 4th plate is a large lace pattern. As mentioned before, the images are big and very versatile. The plates are of greata quality, and good for beginners.
The images are well etched but slightly deep and it catches the cotton during the cleaning process. The designs within the set are all traditional Chinese patterns, things you would expect to find on New year greeting cards etc! The whole set costs 19.95EUr or 5.50EUR if bought individually, available from yourscosmetics.com.

Thank you and have a great weekend!

#aznailartchallenge AZ Nail Art Challenge / Instagram [G for Glitter and H for Holo]

Hello, today I am sharing May’s A to Z nail art challenge prompts for G and H. I had fun completing these two manis, and they gave me a chance to use some polishes from my untried pile.

Letter G – Glitter

#AZnailartchallenge Letter G - Glitter (Poetry Cowgirl Polish: Candy Carnival) @iamcherrylemon

#AZnailartchallenge Letter G – Glitter (Poetry Cowgirl Polish: Candy Carnival) @iamcherrylemon

For this prompt, I have moved away from my normal glittery glitter and opted for a crelly with matte colourful glitter pieces. The polish is by Poetry Cowgirl Polish and the name of the polish is “Carnival Candy”. It was purchased with the store credit I won in Dec 2016! This is such a fun and cute polish, it makes me smile just looking at it. My subtle accent nail was double stamped with a pink stamping polish with the same cute doddle flower pattern.

Products used:

  • Poetry Cowgirl Polish – Carnival Candy
  • Uber Chic Beauty plate 6-03
  • Hit the bottle – Drunk tank pink
  • Moyra white stamping polish

Next prompt, letter H – Holo

I love holo and that’s no secret! Loved this prompt and I picked to use my super holo from Vapid Lacquer. The polish is called Cryogenic Refrigerant, super bright and super holo in a bottle. I did use 2 coats for depth but it is definitely possible to get away with 1 coat.

Next, I’ve double stamped the mani with black and green, giving the illusion of a 3D look on the nails. The patterns are from Feeling Shapely 04 plate by Lina nail art supplies.

Products used:

  • Vapid Lacquer in Cryogenic Refrigerant
  • Painted polish in Midnight mischief

26 Great Nail Art Ideas – Lilac, Pink and Gold

Good morning and hope you are well! Today I am sharing another #26GNAI mani with you. This is for the prompt “Lilac, Pink and Gold”, and isn’t this colour combination lovely?

I have temporarily put my stamper to rest and did some gradient work complete with embellishment instead. But looking at the results, I will need to up my game on non-stamping nail art or just give it all up! I guess I am so used to having stamped manicures, and I rarely wear plain colours on their own…. Unless it is “plain” holographic polishes!

Products used:

  • Barry M Gelly nail paint in Prickly Pear
  • Trust Fund Beauty – Do you know who my father is?
  • The Body Shop – Gold party glitter polish (PR sample)
  • Danglefoot polish – Don’t dangle about (fast drying) top coat
  • Random nail decorations from Ali Express
  • Makeup sponge
  • Princess Nail Lacquer – Magic Flower base coat

Mini polish reviews:

The pale pink (Trust Fund Beauty) polish is one of the polishes received in last month’s Meebox. The formula is on a thicker side so it gradients easily and perfectly on the nail. The colour took me awhile to get used to, but now I really like this pale pink!

Barry M Prickly Pear has been a nail bloggers’ favourite for a long while and I believe you can see why. It is such an easy shade to wear, and it’s so so shiny.

The Body Shop glitter polish was sent to me as a PR review product. It contains gold and black glitter pieces in various sizes. The base is clear so you can wear this over any base colours. I did not sponge it on my nails, as I wanted a gentle glitter look (is there such a thing?) and not a full on version. The brush is thin but it can pick up a decent amount of glitter.

Thank you for reading and have a gorgeous day.

It’s MEEBOX time! April 2017 “Soft Scoop”

Hello there! Hope this post finds you well!

I have a belated unboxing for you today! It has been a busy month at work for me, hopefully it will calm down a bit soon. I can hope.
This month’s box is themed as “Soft Scoop”, so I was expecting to see pastel colours. I don’t have too many pastel polishes so I was really looking forward to this box.

This box was slightly delayed due to availability of some of the items within it. But it was well worth the wait!
So, let’s see what’s in the box!?

  • What’s up nails WG010 Neapolitan Confetti RRP £3
  • What’s up nails Dripping stencils RRP £3
  • Zoya matte velvet lacquer £10
  • Iz Beauty Gel Effect Baby Blue 6ml £6 for 6ml
  • Trust Fund Beauty “Do you know who my father is?” £9 for 17ml
  • Models own Scented polish in Banana Split £4.99 for 14ml

First of all, I really liked the formula of the Trust fund beauty polish. It might not be a shade that I’d picked but it looks really nice, it applies so well but that’s one giant bottle of polish!

Iz beauty polish, this baby blue is gorgeous but it is a tad too thin for my liking. I’ve applied 3 coats for opacity.

Models own scented polish, well well well, I liked the smell of the lid. I didn’t like the smell from the bottle nor when it’s dried on my nails. Despite that, I have no issue with the polish and loved using this for smooshy nails and gradient work. I would love to acquire more models own creme polishes. They will be fab too work with!

Zoya matte Velvet lacquer… It mattifies the nails.. does what it says on the can. It didn’t feel as smooth as my Freckles matte top coat.

My soft scoop inspired manicure

There’s a bit of everything here! I have smooshy nails on pointer and little fingers. Stamping decals on middle and ring fingers. Used a bit of stencils on the ring finger to create the melting ice cream effect. Added the round glitter onto the 2 smooshy nails. Busy, huh?

Products used:

  • Everything from the box including the matte top coat!
  • Uber Chic beauty stamping plate collection 9-01
  • Annika by Edge “White Swan” polish
  • Models own chrome Rose polish

I really like the matte look on this. Hope you like it too! Happy Saturday!

Thank you and take care x

Red, black and gold Superhero “Flash” manicure using Uber Chic beauty mini plate “Texture-licious 2” [mini review]

Red, Gold and Black Superhero mani using Uber Chic mini plate Texture-licious 2 @iamcherrylemon

Red, Gold and Black Superhero mani using Uber Chic mini plate Texture-licious 2 @iamcherrylemon

Morning! My Uber Chic beauty order has arrived and I have a new plate to show you.

For all the new plates, I’m most excited to use this “Texture-licious 2” mini plate. It contains some really bold designs as well as delicate patterns.
I didn’t have the “Flash” in mind while I created this mani using the Uber Chic beauty new plate. Once I’ve listed it on fb and Instagram, many people commented on the mani reminding them of the superhero! Very cool hehe not as cool as a polish with the same name me! Bwahahha love this Bliss polish called Cherry.

Products used:

  • Bliss Polish Basix collection polish in Cherry
  • Painted polish in Midnight mischief
  • Colour Alike stamping polish in Golden Queen
  • Uber Chic beauty stamping plate Texture-licious 2.

There are some funky images and cool designs on this plate. I’m very fond of the bolt design, the squiggly lines, splash marks, bricks and the absurd dots.. pretty much the full plate. I won’t lie, I did stare at it for a long while and tested combinations to ensure good pairing of the images used. It somehow just works? The only patterns that I’m not so keen on are the text ones. Great motto to go by but I’m not a big fan of stamping text on my nails. My nails are long and curved at the side so texts don’t normally look good.

Macro: Red, Gold and Black Superhero mani using Uber Chic mini plate Texture-licious 2 @iamcherrylemon

As always, the plate itched perfectly and easy to use. I was surprised how easy it was to pick up the bolt design in 1 go. I love these texture designs, I own the Texture-licious1 and I like it alot too.
Hope you like this, I have couple more manis created using this plate already. I’ll show you in future posts.

Ok thank you and have a lovely Tuesday.

#26GNAI Great Nail Art Ideas – Yellow with 1 Bold Colour (Yellow and Blue nail stencil manicure) @iamcherrylemon

Morning! Another blog post that is on time, ready before the deadline. I feel tremendously proud of myself! (then I look at my backlog of over 20 posts to be written up!… sob)

Today’s #26GNAI prompt is “Yellow with 1 bold colour”. Yellow, for me is a tricky colour to use in nail art, I don’t use much of it on my nails nor in designs. Although, this IS the beauty of nail art challenges, for you to get out of your comfort zone and explore new techniques, colours, designs and trends.

For this prompt, I’ve used simple “heartbeat” nail art stencils. For my bold colour, I have chosen to use a beautiful metallic blue. This does look like a Swedish inspired manicure! Or Ikea nails :p

Products used for this mani:

  • Bliss polish – Basix Collection “Daisy”
  • Hit the Bottle stamping polish – “Blu-tiful”
  • Zoya – Matte Velvet lacquer (from the latest Meebox May)
  • Nail stencil (the shop has closed down so I have no details on this! But you can get similar stencils from Whatsup Nails)

(shortest product list ever!)

I haven’t taken any macro because this design is pretty simple and there are no details to show! But trust me, matte top coat makes it look 10 times more fun!

Thank you for looking and enjoy your Friday!

#NailWithIGFriends Nail Art Collaboration “Marine” (ILNP Ultra holo Bermuda and Rose Water, CreativeShop stamping plate 28) @iamcherrylemon

Hello! It looks as if most of my backed up manicure posts are all challenges and collaborations…. Yes I overbooked myself in March and was participating in too many collaborations. Please don’t get me wrong, I loved every single one of them as each one of very different and fun.
Last round of #NailsWithIGfriends was hosted by IG@Nailpaintreview. The theme was Marine, so I’ve chosen to use gradient and some stamping.
Products used:

  • CreativeShop stamping plate 28
  • ILNP ultra holo polish in Bermuda and Rosewater
  • Moyra white stamping polish
  • Danglefoot Don’t dangle about top coat
  • Shell nail art stud from Born Pretty nail art store (#21578 $3.99)

#NailWithIGFriends Nail Art Collaboration “Marine” (ILNP Ultra holo Bermuda and Rose Water, CreativeShop stamping plate 28) @iamcherrylemon

I called this my Shelly-mad mani! I wanted to achieve the look of these shells stacked on a sandy beach as it appears on the lighter gradient.

With the extra stamping and nail stud to finish the look off. I was very surprised about the nail stud actually laid flat and stayed on my nail for days!

Macro: #NailWithIGFriends Nail Art Collaboration "Marine" (ILNP Ultra holo Bermuda and Rose Water, CreativeShop stamping plate 28) @iamcherrylemon

Ilnp Ultra holo “Bermuda” is exactly that, ultra sparkly, ultra holographic and ultra gorgeous. It applies well, I’ve used 2 coats in photos and kept this mani on for 3 days without experiencing any chipping. It might have gone on for longer but I needed to change my mani obviously!

Cool, I hope you like this one. ILNP polishes have never been disappointing for me, loving every single one at the moment 🙂

Thank you for reading xx
