Hi there! With the new year upon us (2 more days!?), I’ve rounded up my most loved beauty and skincare products in 2 posts 🙂 and share with you why I love them.
Thinking back how the year has been going for beauty and skincare, it certainly was a mix bag in terms of products. I’ve tried so many more brands, product types and discovered Korean skincare! I even tried eyebrow threading for the very first time!
Annual spend on beauty must have tripled (what a scary thought). Ha!
You might have seen these before, if not, give them a twirl if you’re interested 🙂
Foundation and BB creams
I’ve been wearing less heavy coverage foundations than I had done in 2013. I’ve been very lucky that my skin behaved well and finally I don’t have to cover everything.
The most used BB cream from 2014 is my Burberry Fresh Glow BB Cream. It brightens, moisturises and it feels comfortable on my skin, it offers light to medium coverage. Full review here.
For when I’m going out and want to look my absolute best, I’ll revert back to my trusty Dior Airflash spray foundation. I don’t remember any other base product has attract more compliments ;D hehehe
For primer products, I have strayed from the usual Benefit Porefessional primer and been enjoying using Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer more. It really has the lasting power and makes my not-so-good base products look better on me. The price tag of this one is eye-watering, but a little goes a long long way. I am still using my 20ml bottle for many months.
I’m fast becoming a big fan for this set. The corrector can make my dark circles disappear (salmon coloured cream that counteracts the darkness under my eyes), then the Bobbi Brown creamy concealer will be able to cover up any skin imperfections. If I know I’ve a long day ahead then I will use the setting powder as well.
Burberry Eye brow definer is a real winner. My old love was Illamasqua eye brow cake in Thunder. But Burberry Eyebrow Definer has won me over. It is so easy to use and convenient with built-in spoolie. I don’t need to use a separate brush to apply the brow product and a separate tool to groom.
I often can skip the use of a brow gel too. (Partly due to me trying to streamline my makeup routine! )
I normally stick to a palette or 2, for this year I’ve been using mostly MUA baked shadow trio in Innocence and Bobbi Brown cream shadow stick in Bronze. Again, I’m trying to simplify my daily work makeup look. Saving all the fancy work for going out and weekends!!
I’m absolutely in love with Burberry Lip glosses. Full stop! They are moisturising, feels comfortable on the lips, beautiful colour range and lightly scented.
This year I’ve discover liquid and cream blushers! Cream and liquid blushers are surprisingly easy to work with. They also look very natural and last very well throughout the day. For 2014, I’ve been loving Illamasqua cream blusher in Rude. Rude is a warm coral that can be easily overly done, as it is highly pigmented! I normally pick up enough blusher using just 2 finger tips for each side. To blend, I keep dabbing into my cheeks until it has been blended well. It gives me a lovely and healthy blush colour.
For the “natural look” makeup, I always (yes always) pick up the Illamasqua Powder Blusher in Lover. It is a very light apricot shade with matte finish, I like how pigmented it is yet looks extremely natural. I am totally repurchasing this, if I ever finish it ;P
Highlighters and Bronzers
For highlighters, I have been using the ELF baked blush in Pinktastic (mentioned here), and high-end version is the Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Highlighting Powder in Nude Glow (to be reviewed in 2015 as it is a late comer since Autumn!).
For bronzer, I have stuck to my old favourite; it is the Benefit Hoola bronzer box! Review can be found here.
During spring time, I did use the Bobbi Brown medium bronzing powder more as it is lighter and more suitable when I am less tanned.
Phew! Very happy to shortlist some items for my most loved items of 2014 post! What have you discovered in 2014? Have you found any holy grail products that you would like to share? would love to read all about it 🙂
Thank you for reading and see you again soon in my next post! 😉
Morning! Today I have another makeup related post 🙂 I’ll be reviewing the 2 NYX Eye makeup products I’ve picked up few months back.
Cream shadow stick in Copper
This is a gorgeous reddish copper shade. It goes onto the lids smoothly and can get blended well if you work quick! It comes with a sponge tip applicator.
The colour pay-off is amazing, it’s long-lasting and smudge-proof. It did stay on my lids for good 7 hours and then I had tiny bit of creasing at the end of that.
I’m very impressed with this and wished I picked up a few more colours! While it’s long-lasting, it could be a challenge during makeup removal! I had to use oil cleaner to remove this!
This cream eye shadow is affordable at £5 from NYX online shop.
Roll On Shimmer in Salmon
I’ve been wanting to get the Roll-on shimmer in Salmon for awhile. It gets featured in many YouTube videos and tutorials!
“I want a piece of what they’re having”!
I use this as a the POP colour on my lids. It works very well and stays on when used with eye primer. Salmon is a universally flattering colour to use. I’m very happy I’ve got this 🙂
This costs £4.50 from NYX online shop.
These 2 products are both very good for the price.
I believe NYX is a very good brand for makeup beginners. Their products are mostly good and easy to use. Some matte shadows can be powdery but they are alot better than some brands around the same price point. Oh I quite like their blushers (1 featured in my spring tag blog post) too!
Thanks for reading and I hope you liked this post! 😉
Until next time, take care and chill! It’s Xmas soon!
Hello! So, is this a good makeup beauty box? I haven’t seen a wonderful makeup box yet so I still had high hopes for this. Especially when the official box description promises this will be the best yet!
Read on for a quick review of the box.
Color World Double Cover Concealer 1.5g, RRP $14
I believe I’ve received the shade Beige. It looks pretty dark but it’s perfect for under eye circles. The orange tone of this concealer seems to be just right for mine! I’ve worn this on a night out and it did stay on very well and did not feel dry. Most of other high coverage concealers would feel dry. So I’m pretty happy with this!
Dr MJ Real Mucin Restore Cushion SPF50+ PA+++ 10g RRP $54
How many pluses do we need here 😛
Anyhow, I was pretty excited about this product. I do not own any bb cushion packs. So I opened this and swatched this with a cotton pad.
The colour is about 5 to 6 shades too light for me.I’m a NW25 or thereabouts.
It’s a shame I couldn’t make use of this pack. As even the swatch feel good on back of my hand! I can only imagine this being amazing on the face given the right shade was received. Oh well, you win some and you lose some.
Shara Shara Skin Light Up in Gold Beam RRP $11
Hehe it took me 5 mins to work out where the highlighter was. I kept twisting it but I couldn’t see anything coming out of the sponge tip! Yes I didn’t read the info card 😛 when I did find the cream stick, it was the most pretty cream highlighter! This is very similar to the Peripera Heart Glow Stick I’ve received in the Thanksgiving box collection #2.
Shara Shara Tinted Style Lip Gloss in Shimmering Sunset coral 4.5g RRP $11
Right! This shade looks pretty scary as swatched. But it can look pretty nice when worn sheer on the lips. It shimmers beautifully 🙂
Shara Shara Drawing Brush Liner 1g RRP $9
I was very happy seeing a brush liquid eye liner. I don’t use gel liner nor pencils. I was hoping this will be dark and has good colour pay off.
But this is really disappointing in terms of pigmentation. It is so sheer and maybe too natural looking for me. I like my liners to be blackest of blacks and lasts all day. This is far from what I like 😦
Oh well! Total meme-retail value of the box is $99, the cost of the box is $23 plus shipping. Not a huge value box, but the Cushion pack is $54 on its own! It really is a shame that I cannot make use of it.
Thanks for reading and have a lovely day 🙂
From now until 31st January 2015. Get $3 off any order over $30 (excluding shipping and tax), use the discount code: O8WNBL

As a beginner in K-Beauty, I’m slowly incorporating Korean products into my beauty and skincare routines.
Always checking out the most recommended products from other beauty addicts. But cute packaging often get in the way.
I couldn’t pass on a 15% limited discount so I went to place my first order with BNK. I’ve heard good things about the ecomm site, they offer reasonable prices and fast at dispatching the goods (still snail mail).
Delivery from dispatch to receiving the order into the UK for around 10 days. Customer service team response quickly.
I was browsing the site on my mobile, but for some reason it just doesn’t remember my basket content.i gave up after entering the order 3 times. Then I used my laptop next. ….
It went smoothly until I got to PayPal page. I clicked on submit order but the whole page went blank.
I’ve actually accidentally double ordered, my first order went blank after I’ve signed into PayPal. After checking my mail and PayPal, I couldn’t find my order so I was feeling quite frustrated having to re-enter the whole order again. Here I go, re-enter the complete order again! Yes, this is the second order I didn’t actually know until I received 2 despatch notifications. Then 2 emails pop up from PayPal. .. the air turned cold. . I tried contacting BNK, they did get back really quickly but couldn’t help me because both orders have already left the warehouse and sitting at the airport!
So the boxes took less than 2 weeks, during this time I moaned about it on fb group and thankfully many offers to take the foot peels off my hands. You know who you are, you have baby soft feet now right?
But thank you, didn’t think I could use 8 foot peels on my own!
BNK also included a big bunch of free samples per order too 🙂
Moral of the story is, happy shopping with bnk but be mindful clicking on that “Submit Order” button!

Thank you for ready!
An unboxing post on the City Girl box. To be honest, this was very attractive to me when memebox first launching it together with Foot Therapy and While You Were Sleeping boxes. I am a city girl with the heart of a country girl! Hehehe
I like being well groomed and all made up but only while at work. So before the spoiler item was revealed, I believe we were getting makeup based items. (I am not far off!) Just did not expect the type of makeup being included the box. This post also tells you that I do not normally read instructions and what kind of trouble I get myself into most of the time.
This box was curated by memebox after completing surveys with city girls in Seoul, who they call Seoulites. This box supposed to contains all the very important items would call essentials.
City Girl Box Contents:
Migabee Verbena Cream 50ml, RRP $29
This is a moisturising cream containing shea butter, peptide complex and natural moisturising factors, it aims to help you to achieve supple, silky smooth complexion. It also claims to be able to improve skin elasticity and strengthens skin’s intrinsic ability to retain moisture.
I might start using this moisturiser under my makeup, I have been relying heavily on the “Cleosis All In One Water Shining Finisher” from my Brightening box. It is a cream that does the jobs of an essence, serum, moisturiser and primer! Saves me loads of time!
Mizon Oh! Shy Gorgeous On Liquid Cheek 8ml, RRP $16
Ah, this is the spoiler item, I did have some iffy feelings about the box when I saw this. I have no idea why I stuck to it, but I believe I can use this box up bar 1 product! Read on :p
This product works like a liquid blusher that you brush on and blend for the natural glowing cheek colours. It is medium coral pink.
This is very pigmented and you’ll only need very little for both cheeks.
The information card suggests that you can also mix this with BB, CC cream to transform your skin from ordinary to extraordinary. I think it depends on how much and how well you blend the 2 products!
Shara Shara Dew Veil Primer Balm 25g, RRP $13
This is a primer cream that is rich in vitamin and iron. It is hydrating that can help neutralise the skin tone, sooth dry patches to create a smooth base for makeup application.
This item was being dissed on FB groups.. I am not sure why. I will report back once I have done one day makeup with it and report back if it is true.
Original Raw Multi Pigment – I am Designer [orange, pink, beige] 10g (3 units), $42
A pack of pigments in fancy and gift-able packaging! Xmas is looming so I might save this as stocking filler! This pack contains highly blend-able pigments to use on eyes, lips and cheeks. You can layer the pigments under powder blushes, bronzers, lip balms and glosses for the added intensity.
You can even play around with the pigments to create your own shades.
Migabee Pure Berry Oil Soap Honey 310ml, RRP $29
This product is huge at 310ml. It is an all-in-one multi cleanser for hair, body, and facial use. Once mixed with water, it becomes a creamy foam that cleanse the face very well. The honey blend is made with bee venom, honey, propolis, and acai extracts.
The item smells very un-honey like, I cannot describe the scent but it is heavy floral to me. RIGHT, so I did not read the instructions on the information card. I really like the look of it so I opened the bottle and start using it as an oil cleanser. How wrong was I and how regrettable I felt! My eyes were stinging even thou I tried not to open my eyes, somehow, soap has the ability to penetrate into any cracks on any face. With the amount I put *wrongly* onto my face, it took me double time to remove it with lukewarm water… plenty of warm water and lots of splashing!
THAT will teach me a lesson I won’t forget!
Okie this brings us to an abrupt stop! I just feel pretty embarrassed!!
Thanks for reading and catch you again soon. Here’s a memeshop order received this week, Pony palette, Cacao mask and a LadyKin blusher 😀

Hello there 🙂 First of all, please excuse the tatty looking makeup items in the picture, you will see why in a minute.
Today I have a slightly different post for you. I have a list of drugstore makeup that I have tried and they’re truly well loved (hence they are not in their best pristine conditions!), and I believe these items can also make very good starter items for beginners who might be still experiencing and playing.
If you use makeup regularly but haven’t tried these before. .. They are well worth checking out 😉
MUA baked eye shadow trio in Innocence
This eye shadow trio is my all-time #1 favourite drugstore makeup. It is super useable, gorgeous colours that work in perfect harmony. The colours are shimmery, not chalky at all because baked shadows are pretty good at that :P.
I get the most compliments when wearing these shades from the trio. Hence I love it so so much! At £2.50 it makes it even more amazing. (Swatch was done with only 1 swipe of the product!)
Superdrug, £2.50 rrp
If MUA is not available in your country, you can also try Makeup Revolution Baked eye shadow palette in “Pure and Innocent”. This palette is similar but I find this not as full-on pigmented. MUR ships pretty much worldwide.
Elf baked blush in Pinktastic
This is my absolute favourite highlighter, ever. I picked this up knowing it was a dupe for MAC soft and gentle highlighter. I thought I will try out the dupe before getting the real deal. But never did I expect Pinktastic to be this “impressive”. I like it so much that I am so sure I don’t need to buy the MAC version.
It gives a beautiful and healthy glow to any skin. It is pigmented and long lasting. This wears very well even on my combination oily skin, lasts about 6 to 7 hours before fading.
I’ve used Benefit liquid highlighter in High Beam and Hourglass Incandescent Light, but I’m still reaching out to this Pinktastic as it’s pretty fantastic 😛
I bought mine for around £2.50 while it was in sale. RRP £3.95 and is still a bargain! (Available from elf online, Elf has one store in the UK, Wales)
Sleek Shimmer Blush Rose Gold
A classic and easy to use shade which suits most skin tones. “Rose gold” is a light warm pink with gold shimmer. It looks very close to Benefit Rockateur. When I use this blush I would skip the highlighter!
There’s a nicely sized mirror in the compact. I love everything about this, apart from the closure. It’s very hard to open! This product does contain talc, mica and some silicone, some of you might need to test before purchase.
Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil in Dark Brown
This is pretty basic but it does the job well! I’ve been using this for over 6 years before I discover my current fav eyebrow cake by Illamasqua. But I still take this on my travels! The cap has a stiff brush for which you can brush and smooth your brows with! £2.99 RRP
L’Oréal, Maybelline and Rimmel lipsticks
My most used lipstick in 2013 was L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Caresse Lipstick in Aphrodite Scarlet.
I love the fact that it gives a light wash of colour that’s very easy to wear. You won’t even need a mirror for that 😛 It’s balmy, moisturising and slightly shiny. Love it, it’s a stable item in my handbag.
Unfortunately I believe this is no longer on official website, this can only mean its being discontinued! I still see these in some smaller Boots & Superdrug stores, I shall stock up next time I come across this shade.
Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick in shade 05, this is a lovely medium bright pink that looks light fuchsia, it is great for day time look. Kate lipsticks formulation is creamy and non-drying. The colour last quite well with a light sheen. This is slightly cool toned but still look pretty good with my warm toned complexion.
Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick – 315 Rich Plum
This is my go-to lipstick for work! It is very much MLBB (my lips but better) shade! The texture is creamy and wears very comfortably. I love this shade! But I need to find a dupe for this now that it is very hard to find. I have found some on Amazon and ebay only.
All swatches done with 1 swipe from the bullet
Revlon Lash Potion waterproof mascara in blackest black
I’ve used up 3 of these mascaras, it is a big deal for me as I’m not too loyal with mascaras. I find this mascara keeps the curls on my stubby lashes well (only after I’ve curled them)! And the mascara doesn’t clump and it’s smudge proof on me. Being waterproof mascara, you’ll need eye makeup remover formulated for waterproof makeup. I’m sure there are more awesome drugstore mascaras out there, but I touch and smudge my eyes too often, so only waterproofs for me!
You probably noticed that I haven’t got any drugstore foundation here, I’m not a snob but I only own a few drugstore foundations. Out of the very few, I only liked the L’Oreal Lumi Magique Foundation! It gives me a lovely radiance that last around 5 hours. Unfortunately I have left my bottle at my parents’ house, and not been able to fetch it for photos yet!
At the time of posting this, Superdrug (UK drugstore chain) has a 3 for 2 offer on all cosmetics. Great timing for picking out any drugstore makeup!
Thank you for reading and do let me know any of your favourite drugstore makeup essentials!
Hello there, hope the week is going well for you 🙂 Who’s tired of the UK’s ever-changing weather! I just had my umbrella blown shut! Ok enough of ranting. .. 🙂
Majolica Majorca is a sister company of Shiseido, pricing is more affordable and the quality is still pretty good. It is a well-loved brand within Asia.
I love liquid liners, as most gel or pencil liners would smudge/transfer on my lids during the day. I like to try new liners but my favourite is still Dolly Wink 😉 I picked these 2 liners up as they are not the normal black liquid liner pens. So far, I have been using these for a few weeks and here are my thoughts on the liners 🙂
Each liner pen contains 1.3ml of product, it doesn’t sound like a lot! First of all, it took me a few seconds to work out what I had to do when I first opened the packaging! Basically, you have to remove the bright orange secure clip. To start using the liner, you must twist the top of the pen until you hear clicking sounds and the ink will start to flow into the brush nib. I find it hard to control how much liner ink I can dispense! As 1 click will give you enough ink for lining both eyes!
I always preferred to use a brush applicator over one with felt-tip. It is easier to use and I can get a very precise line with brushes.
BR601 is a lovely amber brown with slight sheen, it is not metallic and not reflective at all. (see swatch) This is my preferred one out of the 2, the colour is great and it is opaque with 1 swipe of the product.
GB802 is a very dark olive green with slight sheen. This one is not as opaque and I have to line twice to get a nice solid line.
I like the fact these liners are not shimmery and the colours are wearable, and can enhances your eye colour.
Easy to use
Smudge-proof and slightly waterproof
Light and travel-friendly
Price is reasonable
Great colour range available
Clean and precise line application
Pigmentation (not consistent across the range)
Very wet consistency, it takes slightly longer to dry/set
Hard to control the flow of the liner ink (the twisting of the liner pen!)
Start to fade after 6 hours wear (on my oily eye lids)
Price: Around £5/6 in JP, £11 in UK online sites (such as YesStyle)
I love liquid liners, do you prefer pencil eyeliners, gel or liquid?
Thank you for reading 🙂
