Meebox May 2017 – Lost City (Unboxing and inspired nail art)

Hello there! Another month another Meebox, yay!  I’m too excited, let’s get straight into unboxing!

Box content:

  • Ruby Wing colour changing polish in “Hello Sailor” £9.95
  • Cuccio nail polish in “Pier pressure” £7.50
  • Annika “Blue Lagoon” £4.20
  • House of Wonderland Meebox Lost City water decals £5
  • NCLA “Take it Off” Soy remover wipes £12.50 from nail polish direct

Total box retail value at just under £40

Ruby Wing “Hello Sailor”

This is a UV colour changing polish. At normal indoor state, this polish is a paler shimmery orange. It turns into a darker shimmer orange while being outdoor. I think these UV colour changing polishes are better for the summer! I’ve been trying to use thermal polishes recently and it won’t change colours because everything and everywhere is just so warm. Good addition to my collection, I already have another one from Ruby Wing and I adore it!

Cuccio “Pier pressure”

This is a pale pink nude beige, a very flattening shade on the nails. I like this very much and have already used it in many nail designs. It is easy to use, opaque and looking gorgeous in 2 coats.

Annika “Blue Lagoon”

This colour is just stunning, a bright and beautiful teal blue fabulous for the summer months. It applies beautifully and dries to a gorgeous high shine finish. I believe everyone needs this polish in their collection, I’m definitely keeping mine.

House of Wonderland Meebox Lost City decals

I don’t normally use decals because I’m such a stamping addict. But I do love the convenience of a water decal, cut, wet and apply. It can’t possibly get any easier 🙂 It involves very simple steps and it can look stunning. The designs on this sheet is fitting to the theme “Lost City”. The only thing I don’t quite like about it, is that the designs are printed too closely together on the sheet. It took me awhile to carefully cut round the designs I like. But other than that, the decals works great.

NCLA “Take it off” remover wipes

My cuticles are very prone to dryness, so the idea of non acetone removal wipes really interests me.

After one use, I do find it doesn’t dry my cuticles like acetone does. It feels kinder to my skin and nails. It did a great job at removing my mani.
What is Meebox?

Meebox is a monthly subscription box for people who loves nails and manicures. It costs £20 a month postage included. Every month, there will be 3 polishes (or more), nail art and nail care items.

Nail art

Here’s a manicure I’ve created using all the items from this month’s Meebox.

I totally abused the dry brush technique here! But I love how it turns out, the “Blue lagoon” and “Pier pressure” create a scene of strong waves. “hey sailor” shimmers through and looks absolutely amazing as the base colour. So… Without putting any words in your head.. Does it look like crashing waves and evening sunset in the tropics? :p

For the accent nails, I’ve used dry brush technique again, created a base for the water decals. I do like the look of this, and will definitely recreate the “crashing waves” soon.

What do you think??

Thank you for reading and have a great day!

26 Great Nail Art Ideas – Lilac, Pink and Gold

Good morning and hope you are well! Today I am sharing another #26GNAI mani with you. This is for the prompt “Lilac, Pink and Gold”, and isn’t this colour combination lovely?

I have temporarily put my stamper to rest and did some gradient work complete with embellishment instead. But looking at the results, I will need to up my game on non-stamping nail art or just give it all up! I guess I am so used to having stamped manicures, and I rarely wear plain colours on their own…. Unless it is “plain” holographic polishes!

Products used:

  • Barry M Gelly nail paint in Prickly Pear
  • Trust Fund Beauty – Do you know who my father is?
  • The Body Shop – Gold party glitter polish (PR sample)
  • Danglefoot polish – Don’t dangle about (fast drying) top coat
  • Random nail decorations from Ali Express
  • Makeup sponge
  • Princess Nail Lacquer – Magic Flower base coat

Mini polish reviews:

The pale pink (Trust Fund Beauty) polish is one of the polishes received in last month’s Meebox. The formula is on a thicker side so it gradients easily and perfectly on the nail. The colour took me awhile to get used to, but now I really like this pale pink!

Barry M Prickly Pear has been a nail bloggers’ favourite for a long while and I believe you can see why. It is such an easy shade to wear, and it’s so so shiny.

The Body Shop glitter polish was sent to me as a PR review product. It contains gold and black glitter pieces in various sizes. The base is clear so you can wear this over any base colours. I did not sponge it on my nails, as I wanted a gentle glitter look (is there such a thing?) and not a full on version. The brush is thin but it can pick up a decent amount of glitter.

Thank you for reading and have a gorgeous day.

Meebox Decemeber 2016 (No Place Like Home) – Review, MeeboxChallenge mani and Giveaway news

Meebox December 2016 - No Place Like Home (box contents) @iamcherrylemon

Meebox December 2016 – No Place Like Home (box contents) @iamcherrylemon

Morning! Today, I am unboxing and reviewing products from the Decemeber’s Meebox (received just before Christmas!). The theme is “No Place Like Home” in reference to the Wizard of Oz.

As a child, I liked watching Wizard of Oz, the old movie version with Judy Garland. I found it fascinating and just loved the storyline. To be honest, I did get scared whenever the witches appear on screen. Yes I am a scaredy cat by nature! Let’s move swiftly onto the unboxing.

Box Contents:

  • Zoya polish in “Goldie” £11.50
  • Leighton Denny nail polish “Jailbird” £12
  • Kure Bazaar polish in “Pigalle” £14
  • Moyou London Fairytales Collection plate 12 £5.99
  • Moyou London Stamper and scraper set £2.99
  • NCLA nail wraps in Gingham £13
  • Ard as Nails cuticle oil £5
  • This box is great value for money, it contains products with a combined RRP value of over £60. The box costs £20 inc postage.

“Goldie” is my first ever Zoya, it is a yellow gold metallic shimmer polish, it looks beautiful on and it applies well.

“Jailbird” is a gorgeous green metallic shimmer

Kure Bazaar “Pigalle” is a red jelly packed with sparkly red glitter and tiny glitter pieces.

As you can see, all the polishes are so relevant to the theme of the box! I love it.

Meebox December 2016 – No Place Like Home (the polishes) @iamcherrylemon

As soon as I heard the theme of the box and Meebox announced Moyou London as one of the featured brands. I knew I was getting the Fairytales Collection 12 plate! Because I bought the plate not that long ago. All Moyou London plates are pretty much fool proof, and beginner friendly. This plate is a full plate, like a story board with all images integrated. I like the versatility it offers. But I also understand this would look pretty daunting to a stamping beginner. I used to think “where do I start?”. But all in all, this is a lovely plate! Since this is a duplicated plate in my collection, I shall be organising a mini giveaway for this plus the stamper set. I will get few more bits to be included in the prize as well. Please follow me on Instagram and look out for a post within the next few days. Sorry, this is a Instagram only giveaway!!

NCLA nail wraps – another first for me. I have never used nail wraps before and cannot believe just how neat they look on the nails. I can understand why there are so many nail wraps loves aroud! Removal was not difficult, just normal acetone will soften the wrap and it gently peels off.

Here’s my #meeboxchallenge entry for the “No Place Like Home” box! I hope you like it!

Dorothy, Toto and the yellow gold brick road are stamping decals made with the stamping plate and my trusty red stamper, I have coloured it in using OPI “Alpine Snow”, Picture Polish in “Nude” and Zoya “Goldie”.

Thank you and have a lovely day!

MeeboxUK Challenge "Sugar Skulls" manicure Oct 2016 @iamcherrylemon

Meebox UK nail subscription + Sugar skulls manicures

Meebox October 2016

Meebox October 2016 “Sugar skulls” themed nail subscription @iamcherrylemon

Meebox is a UK based nail subscription service. There’s a theme to every monthly box, and this month is about sugar skulls.

The boxed are £20 including postage and you can decide to keep or stop the subscription every month. Very much like pay as you go! I like this flexibility 🙂

  • Ard As Nails nail polish in “Taking a dip”
  • Wahl London nail art pen shade 01
  • Charlie’s nail art store 50pc flowers

I’ve created 2 very similar designs, one was actually for my #clairestelle8Halloween challenge. The initial one was for #meeboxchallenge ! For this, you’ll have to create a manicure using the current months meebox contents. It wasn’t an issue as these colours do go well together and there’s a *theme* already!

Video tutorial: https://youtu.be/3WMiahKxSdw
My thoughts: I wasn’t sure if I actually liked the box contents when I received it. I was expecting a stamping plate with sugar skulls! I think it’s best not to expect anything as that would just spoil your fun. After using the products, I was pleasantly surprised what can be created with them.

I love the colour of the Deco Miami polish, a bright pink but the consistency was very thin and the brush couldn’t pick up enough polish. The polish was pigmented but thin so I’m guessing this is great for watermarbling. I might give that a go next time!

The Ard As Nails polish is a lovely dark cornflower blue. Great to work with and opaque in 2 coats.

Annika “White Swan” is a milky white creme polish. I was expecting it to be great, but unfortunately I didn’t like the consistency as it didn’t self even out too well. But two coats of polish solved the issue. It produced a fabulous white canvas for my mail art. Wahl London nail art pen is in shade 01, which is black. Absolutely great addition to my nail kit. I needed it for my venture at freehanding!
Thank you for dropping by and have a great Friday tomorrow!
PS. Apologies for being so quiet on here!

Hello! I’m in for another nail challenge… I’m getting very busy recently with these but I’m liking it! 😛

Ok so this challenge is hosted by @baby_mama_nails and @themermaidpolish, two very talented ladies on Instagram. They’ve started a monthly challenge when every month we post a nail creation using the chosen colours. For August, theme is “anything goes’… So it will just be nautical or sea related.

My entry for the Magical Mermaid month is the blue and silver manicure.

I’ve created more stamping decals, using Moyou London Sailor collection plate 17.

Polishes used:

Princess lacquer in “Hey Sailor” and “Tiara sparkles”

Sinful Colors in Snow me White

Edk ultra holo Andromeda

Born Pretty Black stamping polish

Princess lacquer “Glass slipper” fast drying top coat
I’ve used the 2 Princess lacquer polishes for gradient and base colours for the nails. They’re very sparkly!

I have not kept my nails long, and it seems some of the Moyou London plate designs are way too big for my nails now. Boohoo!

Thank you for dropping by and have an awesome day!

Marks and Spencer Summer Beauty box 2016 – Unboxing

Marks and Spencer Summer Beauty box 2016 (box contents)

Marks and Spencer Summer Beauty box 2016 (box contents)

Hello there!

We’re approaching mid August already! Summer has truly and quietly crept in and slowly creeping out!

Today I’m sharing a quick unboxing post with you. This is the Marks and Spencer Summer Beauty box 2016. M&S curated this limited edition beauty box and selling it for only £10 when you spend £40 in store or online. A very kind lady was asking in our beauty group who wants the box as she’s placing her order but not wanting the box herself. So I was lucky to only have to pay for the box and postage!

This box’s totally RRP value is around £120, so for £10 this is the bargain of the decade! (OK a bit OTT but you get the gist!)
So, what’s inside

• Swell ultimate protect and renew serum 30ml

• Rodial Dragon’s blood hyaluronic tonic 50ml

• Philip Kingsley citrus sunshine swimcap 50ml

• Pure instant radiance hot cloth cleanser 50ml

• Ren instant firming beauty shot 10ml

• Island escape eau de toilette 25ml

•Nuxe huile prodigieuse 10ml

• Ultrasun face SPF30 25ml

• Pur correcting primer illuminate and glow 10ml

• Sun Smart sun lotion SPF30 50ml

• Leighton Denny crystal finish quick dry top coat 12ml

• Stila lip glaze raspberry 1.5ml

• Nails Inc gel one coat nail polish 10ml

• Percy and Reed volumising no oil oil 30ml

I’ve started using the Ultra sun and keeping it in my handbag. It is my top choice for sun protection for face  (my review here).

I wasn’t too sure when I found out about the fragrance as I just don’t get along with many. But I’m surprised to find that M&S Escape smells refreshing and floral. It is a very pretty scent.

I can’t wait to test out the Leighton Denny fast drying top coat!

Unfortunately, this box is already sold out. But keep an eye out for future releases as M&S beauty boxes are usually pretty good value! This time, the entire box is very well put together and great for summer.
Thank you for reading and have a sunny warm day!

Life’s a Beach UK indie polish box – Unboxing and “Summer Droplets” manicure

Hello there! I’ve always been interested in UK indie polishes. I was really drawn to the UK polish scene ever since meeting Lolly from Frightfully Spectacular online. It is just amazing how many polish lovers are living their dreams and making polishes for nail addicts like me.
Today I’ve a UK indie polish box created by the creators of Danglefoot, Freckles polishes and Luna loves. Luna loves lacquer is a totally new brand to me. I’ve tried Danglefoot and absolutely love it! I’m waiting to use a few polishes I’ve got from Freckles (blog posts to follow!).
Life’s a beach was very limited in numbers, 25 boxes to be exact. I’m very happy that I’ve managed to grab one before it sold out! All of the polish shades are limited editions and will only be obtainable via this box.
The box contains;

  • I’m Beach Ready (Danglefoot polish)
  • Sea you at the Shore (Freckles polishes)
  • Summer Droplets (Luna loves Lacquer)
  • Born Pretty stamping plate BP-L017 Summer themed!
  • Jumbo clear stamper with scraper

The cost of the box including UK postage is £25.

I’ve used the stamper, the Born Pretty stamping plate and Summer Droplets to create this simple and serene beach inspired manicure 🙂 Summer Droplets is a dream to work with. The brush is lovely and firm-ish. These pictures are showing 2 coats with top coat.

The pale pink stamping polish is Moyou London Frosted Lips and the gold is from Colour Alike. Topped with Princess lacquer glass slipper fast drying top coat. The stamping polishes and top coat are not part of the box.
I like this manicure alot, to me it is peaceful and remind me of relaxation by the sea in the summer evenings. Summer Droplets is truly beautiful polish, I just love those copper and turquoise flakies.

Life’s a Beach indie polish box is now all sold out but if you’re interested, the ladies are planning another polish box for release in Autumn. Make sure you follow them on Instagram for details nearer the time.

Luna loves Lacquer

NOTE: please stay tuned for 2 more manicures using the Freckles and Danglefoot polishes! They’re coming very soon x

Thank you for reading and HAPPY Friday!

Precious Petals beauty box (British Beauty Blogger x Latest in Beauty) unboxing and review

Morning everyone!
Today, I’ve an unboxing + mini review post for you. I’ve purchased the Precious Petals beauty box from Latest in Beauty. It is a beauty box with products hand picked by the British Beauty Blogger, Jane Cunningham.

This time, the box contains 3 main brands namely L’Occitane, Metiva and Eroborian. Jane Cunningham’s beauty box creations are normally excellent value for money and the products are tried and tested by Jane herself. I’ve always been a fan of her beauty boxes.

It did not take long for the box to arrive, in fact, they delivered the box at 7.30pm exactly 2 days after ordering.
I’ve received it for over 2 weeks so I have had the time to try out the products on offer. It is true that it is not easy to yield any real benefits from skincare products in such short time. But usually, you can tell if you do or don’t like a product!

L’Occitane Divine Cream 8 ml, worth £14
This is one of L’Occitane bestsellers.
Official description: With 5 patents, the Divine Cream acts at the heart of cells to visibly correct all signs of ageing, for beautiful, younger-looking skin.

This cream really does what it claims to do. It gave me soft and comfortable skin upon application. It has a natural floral scent to it. The texture is slightly thick but creamy and easy for the skin to absorb it.
I believe you can probably see better results after continuous usage. Since it doesn’t contain SPF, you will have to apply a sunscreen lotion if you’re using this as a day cream.
For my combination (normal/oily) skin, this cream is fine and not too heavy. Will I purchase this at full price? I’ll have to have my pennies… £74 for 50ml!

L’Occitane Cherry Blossom Hand Cream 30ml, worth £8
I’m a big fan of the original Shea butter hand cream! This is my second favorite from the brand L’Occitane. It is also one of the reasons why I bought the box, knowing I would love this hand cream.
This Cherry Blossom version has a sweet floral scent that is very pleasing. I feel that it works well but not as well as the original version. It leaves hands lightly nourished and soft!

L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil 75ml, worth £7
I love almond scent so naturally I should like this shower oil. This oil leaves your skin nourished and moisturised. I didn’t need to apply another body lotion after rinsing. A very good product so no wonder it is one of L’Occitane bestsellers as well!
This shower oil is very fitting for a luxurious hotel bathroom shelve.

Melvita Rose Floral Water 28ml, worth £3
HA! I’m probably one of the very rare person not liking the scent of roses! This facial spritz is a very handy sized version. You can keep this in your fridge and use it to refresh your skin during the hotter weather (if we will ever get the Summer in the UK!).
I’m a regular user of facial spritz / spray. .. So for me, this is not a “wow” product. I understand it is one of Melvita’s bestselling products but it isn’t too impressive. It is only because I don’t like rose scented beauty products.

Melvita L’or Bio 17ml, worth £6.50
This teeny body oil is a blend of Argan Oil, Kendi Oil and Buriti Oil. It smells citrusy with a slight hint of floral due to the jasmine injection. This smells and sounds good enough to eat. After using this, I feel like I ought to be relaxing in a hammock on a tropical island!

Erborian CC Creme 15ml, worth £17
As a regular BB and CC Cream user, it would take a lot to sway me from my usual arsenal of BB/CC creams.
This colour correcting cream works great on nice clear skin that only needs a little bit of even skin tone. The coverage isn’t heavy with this so you’ll need to use concealer (if you normally do anyway). It lasts around couple of hours on my combination skin. After that I needed a touch up.

This is slightly expensive for what it can do (for me!), so unfortunately I won’t buy the full size item. I’ll go back to my Korean BB/CC creams 😛

Erborian Camellia Essence 3ml, worth £6
I love facial oils, they work really quickly and effectively on my skin. I’ll be reviewing my favourite facial oil very soon on my blog. Back to the mini review! For the times I’ve used this, my skin feels alot softer and more radiant the next morning. I do like this!

The Precious Petals Beauty Box (Erborian Carmellia Essence) @iamcherrylemon

The Precious Petals Beauty Box (Erborian Carmellia Essence) @iamcherrylemon

In summary. .. I’m not too overly in love with this box. It is decent for how much it costs, but I wish I love the divine cream and the facial spritz too.

The box also contains a voucher of £10 discount for each of the brand featured in this box. Plus a postcard for the user to send the feedback back to Latest in Beauty. So we have a chance to tell them exactly what we think!

The RRP value of the box is over £60, the cost of the box including postage is only £20.
If you fancy grabbing yourself a box then there are still some boxes left on Latest in Beauty website (Not affiliated).

Thank you for reading and have a lovely week ahead.

Review: Paint the Rainbow December 2015 box (Rainbow Connection)

Hello! Hope you’re well 🙂 today I’ve a nail box review for you! Rainbow Connection is an online nail supply store, possibly my favourite one too! Check it out if you’re looking for gorgeous indie nail polishes 😉

Rainbow Connection has a monthly themed box containing indie holographic polishes and occasionally nail related pampering items.

This December box is one of the most gorgeous box of the year. It is all about Christmas movies, but with these lovely shades available. .. I don’t mind wearing them all months of the year too. For more information, please check my unboxing post and/or Paint the Rainbow official site.

First up we have a dark taupey chocolate brown holographic polish called “To me you are Perfect”. It is more taupe than red/brown, a very nice cool shade with gold flakes.
I didn’t expect myself to love it as much as I do. But it is simply gorgeous yet understated. (Swatched with 2 coats without topcoat)

Dark Metal Lacquer - To Me You Are Perfect (PTR Dec 2015) @iamcherrylemon

Next, we have a heavenly lilac holo by Lilypad Lacquer. This is called “Magic in the Air”, the lilac holo polish with micro shimmer. It even glistens under the very rare UK sun! (Swatched with 3 coats without topcoat)

Lilypad Lacquer - The Cat In the Hat (PTR Dec 2015) @iamcherrylemon

This is “Welcome to Whoville” by Colors by Llarowe. I adore CBL polishes, they’re of great quality and apply beautifully on the nails. This warm coral pink is probably one of the easiest to wear and flattering shades.

Colors by Llarowe - Welcome to Whovile (PTR Dec 2015) @iamcherrylemon

Colors by Llarowe - Welcome to Whovile (PTR Dec 2015) @iamcherrylemon

Next up, we have a very elegant vintage gold holo polish by Bear Pawlish, it’s called “Ticket Please”. It is not a “in ya face” yellow gold, oh no no. .. This less than yellow gold is more flattering and gives you that subtle dash of “bling” in any party. Another winner!

Bear Pawlish - Tickets Please (PTR Dec 2015) @iamcherrylemon

Finally,  we have a Cupcake Polish named “Bad Santa”. It is a ultra fun agenta
pink holo with flakies! It is slightly trickier to apply but BOY, is this a gorgeous colour?! Looks fabulous 😀

Cupcake Polish - Bad Santa (PTR Dec 2015) @iamcherrylemon

There is a bonus item within this box, the peppermint scented wax melt created by “Wick n Wax”.

If you like the look of this box (5 holographic polishes!!) and fancy one yourself, then you’re in luck! There are few of these boxes left on Rainbow Connection big cartel site. It has been reduced from £45 to £40, plus shipping.  The owner of Rainbow Connection  (Annette) ships internationally too!
