Today, I am sharing my thoughts on L’Occitane’s alternative bestselling hand cream. I have always been a fan of their original Shea Butter hand cream, and also tried other variations in the handy handbag size too.
After a year of not using hand creams, I am welcoming these lovely nourishing creams with open palms! I have only recently fell back in love with the lavender scent, and I am slowly infusing my house with it! The scent has known to have calming and relaxing influences for some people. It is commonly used as a sleeping aid for children and adults.
There are alot of companies who sells lavender hand creams or hand creams infused with lavender scent etc. Some are pretty good, and some do smell rather artificial! I do like this one by L’Occitane.
The product: This hand cream is infused with shea butter and lavender essential oils. It comes in 3 sizes, 15ml (promotional packs), 30ml and 75ml. This 75ml bigger version is perfect to keep in office or by the bedside table.
The texture is light and gel-like cream, it gets absorbed easily so that’s a huge bonus! Who has time to sit around rubbing hand cream in? (I used to!)
The basic ingredients are water, glycerine, shea butter, lavender, grape seed and coconut oils and fragrance. It does contain allergens such as alcohol and stabilising agents i.e. xanthan gum.
Effectiveness: This hand cream is great for mildly dry hands and normal skin. It gives enough moisturising properties and nourishes the dry and rough skin on the hand.
  • Good moisturising properties and nourishing to cuticles
  • Temporarily smooths out chapped skin
  • Scented
  • Non greasy
  • Easily asorbed
  • Attractive packaging
  • Heavily scented (My colleague asked me why I smell of shoe polish, I am not sure how lavender smells to him….)
  • Pricy (splurge! but a good treat!)
Price: £14 for 75ml, L’Occitane online store
Summary: 3.5/5
Light texture cream that can be easily absorbed, targets dry chapped areas on hands. A good all rounder hand cream, I would recommend this to those who appreciates its heavy scent. You are better off choosing the original shea butter hand cream if you are after a heavier duty cream! or your hands need more nourishment and pampering.
L’Occitane often hosts special sales, free gifts with purchase and discounting items online for flash sales. Make sure you sign up if you are interested in L’Occitane products, although bestsellers are not discounted in most cases!
