A brand new KBeauty product review today! I’ve been trying out COSRX Silk Blackhead Finger Balls. These are little silk casings crafted by silkworms using their saliva glands. It contains natural protein Sericin, which helps to remove blackheads and dead skin cells.

This might sounds gross to some people. Please be rest assured that silk worms are definitely NOT in these casings when being sold, the silk cocoons are only collected after the silk worms are done with them. So no worms are left homeless nor been harmed.

So why oh why am I rubbing silkworm casings on my face?
Gentle and effective skin exfoliators!
The silk cocoons will remove excess sebum from the skin and in turn remove any build up dirt and grime from congested pores. With regular usage, your clogged pores won’t have time to turn into blackheads.

These little guys have been popular in the KBeauty market for awhile now.
Even the big Western online beauty store Cult Beauty is stocking them as one of their beauty must haves. But of course they are selling these silk cocoons at a premium price! £10 for 12 silk balls at the moment.  I’ve picked mine up from eBay at £3 for the dozen.

How to use?

1. Soak in warm water for 3 to 5 mins or until they’re slightly softened
2. Slot a couple of cocoons onto your index fingers
3. Rub your skin in gentle circular motion and concentrating on aread with congested pores. I.e. nose area, chin and forehead
4. Once you’ve finished, ensure the cocoons are rinsed well and free from dead skin
5. Dry them naturally and they’ll be ready to use again

Each silk finger ball can be reused up to 4 times. It is recommended to exfoliate your skin with these for 2 to 3 times a week.

How effective are these?
To me, my skin does feel smoother and brighter after just 1 use. So they have definitely improved my skin texture. Although I don’t believe these cocoons are best at blackheads removal, as I still have some leftovers that I need to use my trusty Biore nose strip to finish the job.

Will I recommend this to you?
I would recommend this as an gentle skin exfoliant for sensitive skin. But only if you are OK with the whole ritual of preparing these cocoons for use.
