Hello! Happy Friday everyone! Yes I’m enjoying the stamping fun 🙂 This looks like some script writing on nails, right?
This is the first time I’ve tried using Moyou London plate with a Moyou stamper.
I haven’t blogged about my Moyou plate haul, too ashamed to admit how much I got hooked on their gorgeous stamping plates.
Secretly I’ve been trying to learn how to stamp but always ended up with images that are unclear ;( quite discouraging.
But now I’ve learned more about stamping and can’t wait to get started 🙂
For today’s mani, I have used 1 coat of Bobbi Brown polish in Navy and the stamping polish is Barry M’s silver foil effects.
Stamping plate was the Moyou London Princess collection plate 11. I hope to do a “plate review” post once I have played with the plates 🙂
Things I’ve learned:
You need to work with a good stamper and scraper set. I’ve been testing with a set I’ve bought online and stamping rubber just doesn’t pick up images well. Then I did a little research and ordered the Moyou standard stamper for £3.99. It works a treat after priming it. Online research shows that it depends on the spongy-ness of the rubber part!! I guess.. .just work out what you prefer 🙂
The rubber part of the stamper might need priming , try rubbing the stamper rubber with a rubber/eraser. It takes off the shiny film and designs might get picked up better.
Stamping plates can be easily obtainable, just need to pick the designs that you like and get creative! There are so many to choose from, but lately I have fallen in love with Moyou London plates. They look so pretty!
Stamping polishes – special polishes not a MUST but they do work better. You only need opaque/thicker polishes in order for the design to show well (Do the 1 coat test: you test the polish on 1 bare nail. If you can’t see your nail after one coat then that polish should be good to stamp with). Duo-chromes and metallics are good bets, some holographic polishes are also good.
There are alot of stamping tutorials on YouTube so watch and see how it’s done. (But they do make it look simple!).
Get inspired! Search for stamping ideas on Instagram and YouTube, some are just breathtakingly beautiful…
Preparation is the key!
- Before stamping, making sure your work area is well lit or has good natural lighting
- Before stamping, you will have your base colour ready and make sure polish is dry before stamping
- Your stamping plates are clean
- Your Stamper and scraper are clean
- Some cotton rounds/cotton buds to clean the plates after each stamp
- Acetone for clean up
- Stamping polishes (you can use more than 1, yes! go Google, it looks so cool!) Finish off with a nice top coat to protect your hard work 😛
Practice and practice, some designs require you to line them up well but it’s all up to you 🙂
Cool, have you tried stamping? Any tips you would like to share with us?
I’m still learning and it is still trial and error for me!
Thanks for dropping by and have a lovely weekend.
Ps. This is my entry for the Moyou London Instagram 20k competition 😀 “Blue manicure for Friday” ♡♡
