Sanctuary Spa Covent Garden 5 Minute Thermal Detox Mask review by @iamcherrylemon

Hiya all! It’s Fridaaaaaaaaaaay! I have been counting down to the weekend ;P hehehe

Today’s product review is for Sanctuary Thermal Detox Mask. Sanctuary Spa is tucked away in the hustle and bustle of Covent Garden in central London. It is a popular hot spots for ladies during lunch hours for the express 25 mins facials to weekend treatments and spa days. It is well loved by Londoners, so advance booking is advisable. They have an extensive range of spa treatment products that is available in Boots, Debenhams and their own online shop.

I have got this detox mask, exfoliator and the facial oil from Boots during their 3 for 2 offers on skincare (Boots has the 3 for 2 offer on this range now if you are interested).

Sanctuary 5 Minute Thermal Detox Mask is a self-heating mask, created for people with oilier skin. Its main ingredients include Charcoal (known for its ability to draw out impurity from the skin) and Kaolin clay (known for absorbing excess oil from the skin). It also contains essential oil of myrrh which helps soothe and calm the skin.

The idea for this mask is that the self-heating will open up the pores on the face, and let the charcoal and kaolin get to work. Removing all dirt and impurity while absorbing excess oil, so afterwards, the skin is left being decongested, fresh and brightened.

Instructions for usage:

  • Cleanse skin thoroughly to remove make-up, leave skin damp
  • Twice-weekly, massage a thin layer of the mask over the face and neck
  • Allow to warm and cool naturally while you relax for 5 minutes
  • Rinse off with warm water or using a cloth, use a toner to ensure all traces of the mask is removed
  • Pat dry and follow with a moisturiser or serum

My take on the product

This mask is thick in consistency and can be hard to apply, but you can get over this issue by adding few more drops of water onto the skin. Try to avoid your eye area. The mask will heat up as soon as it gets in contact with water, the mask will feel very hot on your skin for first few seconds and it will gradually cool down.

I love the idea of a 5 min face treatment; I don’t have any excuses not to use this on a regular basis! Ok, I will be honest; the mask does not smell that nice. It smells like muddy oil?! Sorry I can’t find better words for it; this is how the smell reminds me of!! Keep the mask on for 5 minutes, all is left to do is rinse clean, pat dry and apply moisturiser. So easy! I normally use this week at night just after showering.

Please note this mask does not dry up and crack on your skin, I have left it for around 30 mins (this is not advisable, but I went online shopping :P) and it did not irritate my skin.

My final thoughts

This mask is good for people with oilier skin that’s prone to blemishes and breakouts. With regular use, it does help to brighten up dull skin and help the skin to feel clearer and cleaner.

Price: £10.20 for 100ml, or £2.05 for 15ml (trial size)

Availability: Boots (3 for 2 offer is currently on), Debenhams, Sanctuary Spa Covent Garden online

Overall Score: a good 4 out of 5, I have a backup for this already 😉

Happy weekend everyone 😀
