Good morning people! It is Easter Friday today, for many of us, today is the start of a 4 day weekend in the UK 😀 YAY!
Today’s skincare product under review is from LUSH Cosmetics. LUSH is a brand that I have not explored and stores that I have never visited. It always smell fantastic whenever I walk past a Lush store, every store is always jam packed with customers, and it looks scary to me! I don’t know why… the stores have buckets of products everywhere.. I wouldn’t know where to begin. So I have never made an effort in checking them out. Until I got this Lush product from Elly as part of my birthday gift last month.
Who’s Lush? Lush is a cosmetic company born and bred in the UK. Their head quarter is in Poole, Dorset. Lush is currently in their 20th year since launching in 1994.
They sell handmade products that are created using mostly natural (not 100% Vegan) ingredients, you will find most of their products are preservative free. Hence the short shelf life on some of their product lines (including this facial cleanser!). Lush is against animal testing, their containers are made of recycled materials. (plus you get a free face mask for returning 5 empty Lush tubs!) I love companies that encourage consumer to recycle! Big thumbs up!
Let the Good Times Roll (facial cleanser / Exfoliator)
This is my first proper LUSH product… Let the Good Times Roll was a limited edition product for Christmas 2013, but they have made this a permanent line recently. Apparently it was such a big hit that this is bought back to the shops by popular demand. That’s always a good sign!
This facial cleanser comes in a black recycled plastic tub, it is such cute packaging! Upon opening the tub, you will see the caramel-coloured contents! ahhaha This remains me play dough in the play dough tub!! Actually the consistency of the product is very much like play dough, very doughy and squishy. Although this is a cleanser but with the micro granules (gritty bits), this can be used as an exfoliator.
This product smells pleasantly sweet! Official website description of the smell is, “Buttery popcorn” 😀
This product has a 3 month shelf life as its made with fresh ingredients and contains no preservatives (such as parabens!).
Ingredient list: Maize flour (gentle exfoliator); Polenta (mineral and vitamin packed); Cinnamon powder (warming and stimulating); Corn oil (skin and hair booster). It also contains Glycerine, talc, water, perfume, gardenia extract and popcorn! Apart from perfume, which is a safe synthetics, all other ingredients are natural.
For face: pick a pea sized piece of cleanser, add few drops of water to make it into a paste. Rub the paste onto slightly damp skin and exfoliate in circular motions for about a minute. The maize flour and polenta will work its magic, be careful not to rub too hard as it may cause damage to the skin (as you would with other facial scrubs!).
Rinse off with warm water, then pat skin dry with a face cloth.
For rest of body: use as much as you require to make the paste!
After each application, my skin feels clean, softer and smoother. This product works for my combination/oily skin and it does not irritate. (You can try a tester in any Lush stores, they’d love you to try their products!)
I am not a big fan of gritty face scrubs but this is one exceptional exfoliator, I just love this and will incorporate into my skincare routine 😀 I will use this as well as my trusty Ginvera marvel gel for my weekly exfoliation!
Price: £6.35 for 100g, also available for £15.58 for 250g
Availability: Lush online (lush.co.uk), in-store and lush worldwide online stores
Overall Summary: 4/5; Super lovely exfoliator! I would have given it a 5 if I didn’t have to rush and finish the product within 3 months!!
Have you tried any Lush products and would recommend them? 🙂 I would like to get to know more about the range xxoo
Thanks for reading and I shall be posting another LUSH post ;P today
