Last week, a friend has asked me if I would like to try some gel nail kits. I have no idea but I said “yes” before I blinked! I will have to report back to her so I am only putting a short review here on my own blog.
Fuse Gelnamel starter kit (V-amp)
This starter kit is tiny and the idea of on-the-desk, easy to use gel kit just totally won me over! It promises to completely dry after 30 seconds of fusing under a LED lamp. After reading Nailluxxe’s Gel nail post, I have become more aware of the potential risks from using UV lamps. So I do feel a little better that this kit contains a LED lamp which does not emit UVA or UVB.
The tiny box contains everything you need to start you off, including a nail buff, LED lamp kit, gelnamel, cleanser and manicure stick.
Application: Prepare each nail by removing all traces of nail polishes and buffed.
Swiped clean with cleanser. Apply a thin layer of gelnamel, making sure it levels off. FUSE the nail under LED lamp for 30s. Wipe again with cleanser and lint free wipe.
Wala! That’s your manicure done for a nail! Speediest mani I have ever had.
Pros: Super-fast drying time; fuss free application; easy to use kit
Cons: Expensive; prone to chipping and tip-wear
I like the idea of a desktop manicure, but I wish the manicure would last a little longer than 2 days. Basically, it showed tipwear and chipped on day 2, started to lifted off on day 3.
That’s such a shame as I really want to love this!
Nutra Nail Gel Perfect 5 minute Gel-Colour Manicure
This kit contains 1 gel colour, 1 brush cleaner and a bottle of activator, some instruction booklet as well. Basically, you will need to prepare each nail by buffing and cleaning them totally free of nail polishes and oil. Then 1 layer of activator as base, followed by a layer of gel colour, another layer of activator and gel colour and finish off the final layer of activator to seal everything off. Sealing off all free edges as well. May I mention that the activator does smell and act like superglue? I don’t like superglue L
Pros: Amazing shine that lasts; great pigmentation; ok drying time of 5 minutes
Cons: So many layers of polishes! Uncertain effects of the activator?!
I think I prefer this kit over the Sensationail FUSE kit, simply it does last a lot longer and the colour is great.
This is FUSE gelnamel in “such a laser” (sparkly gold)
Thanks for reading! Hope you have a lovely week ahead 🙂
After thoughts: This is day 6, GelPerfect is still looking like new and shiny, and I have applied FUSE twice in 5 days!
